40 years on ..................................... Not such a come down as one might expect after the Soundboard of the Lancaster University recording, this came to me very late in possibly the early 90s and is taken from a CD-R - except for the track "All These Things" which seems to be absent from my recording, Disc One ending with "Imperial Bedroom". Fortunately there's always a back-up , isn't there? (Fingers crossed). So I don't know where the other source was but suffice to say it flows seamlessly on the tape so I'm guessing the kind trader who sent me the CD-Rs just couldn't fit "All These Things" on their CD-R despite the claims on the artwork - which incidentally has a picture of Elvis in his tangerine shirt and waistcoat circa U.K. tour 1994. There are no surprise extra songs here just a thorough run through of nearly all the songs performed on the tour across the U.K. There are a couple of glitches in "Pidgin English" and "Clubland". Elvis says after "From Head To Toe" "we'll know our fate tomorrow" so I am postulating that he's considering the next release of the charts (since this took place on a Monday night) - hard to think of an alternative for this choice of phrase. "I Can't Stand Up (For Faling Down)" has some electrical interference but otherwise it seems a really good audience recording with just a little hum in the very quiet moments. Elvis forgets the words of "Pump It Up" after the band introductions and then responds to the cheering with "we're not going home just yet!". Steve varies his little phrases again and ends with a church organ solemn introduction to "Clowntime Is Over" before the pre-programmed "Ice-cream van" synth ending again with a quote from the British National Anthem. It's hard not to underestimate just how good the whole ensemble are at this stage of their careers but this is another great capture of a superb performance throughout.
