40 years on ................................... The relentless pace that Elvis put himself and the Attractions continues as he moves up the country through the central region to England's second city and a place where he always had a strong following though maybe not the same degree of adoration seen in other parts of England in particular- not including Norwich of course ;-) Here we find "Green Shirt" is dropped for the first time since the start of the U.S. and Canada tour and other songs losing out include "Town Cryer" and "The Long Honeymoon" but a concession to "home" audiences includes an outing for "{I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea" though during this part of the tape there is a glitch and a change in tone which disappears soon afterwards. Only faint cheers are heard after the announcement of "From Head To Toe" as "our new single" reflecting the failure to align live acclimations to the shifting of vinyl in any serious level. The recording suffers a major glitch (maybe when a tape is changed) and we only get around 2 seconds of the very start of "Mystery Dance" though it's enough to allow identification. The crowd remains attentive all the way through but maybe not as ecstatic as heard on other recordings but it's a decent enough quality and needed no work on it from me apart from the removal of a couple of glitches. This was Elvis' only appearance at the ill fated Bingley Hall which burned down in 1984 but it does provide a somewhat echoey venue which occasionally breaks through on this tape. I was given this as an allegedly second generation tape from a Record Fair dealer in 1988 in Birmingham - but there again he was trying to fleece me for the "Radio Radio" 12 inch single!
