40 years on ............................................ Second night in a row after a break for The Attractions and I'm pleased to present this as a return to the excitement of previous gigs, again helped by a hearty audience. Elvis seems to be playing fast and loose with the setlists in these gigs moving songs around and still concentrating almost entirely on songs from "Get Happy!!" and "Trust" but there is a an increase in immediacy and passion in this performance. The start follows the usual pattern of a vocal and piano start and then two up tempo band songs but "High Fidelity" makes an early appearance followed by the first tour performance of "Hand In Hand" and Elvis then says "We'd like to do a Tammy Wynette song for you now" and the pace drops with "Too Far Gone" with Steve shining on electric piano. The crowd enthusiastically keeps the beat by clapping along in "Green Shirt" and then Elvis introduces "a couple of songs from our new album Trust" which brings a cheer as well. The clapping continues with the introduction to "I've Been Born Again" with Bruce ascending the neck of his bass as the segue to "King Horse" approaches. A doff of the cap to Elvis Presley follows with "Little Sister" and Elvis' great guitar playing before a race to the end of the main set broken only by a late hiatus with "He's Got You" before closing the set with "You Belong To Me". Sonny Boy Williamson's "Help Me" kicks off the encores with the usual songs being played with "Alison" just lightening the mood before a frenzied "Pump It Up" with band introductions. Once again many thanks to the JEMS gang for the copy of this 1st generation recording. It was seriously slow and required an adjustment in pitch of over a semitone to get it up to the correct key. However, many thanks to JEMS and the unknown original source for this little gem.
