G.B.H.
Elvis Costello and Richard Harvey
NME
Even a stunted memory of GBH will see you through the soundtrack. You get sad strings, creepy flashback piano, a gang of intriguing titles and clean clever (gulp!) classical music to bring down the hard left and pour acid over your school hamsters to. The most useful thing Costello's tagged his name to for ages.

Cruel Inventions
Sam Phillips
NME
Sam's hubbie, T-Bone Burnett, does his usual impeccable production job on Cruel Inventions and Elvis Costello weighs in with a bit of guitar. But it's Sam herself who eclipses the big boys around her with a set of stark, personal songs and a voice imbued with the vulnerability and power of Kate Bush and Syd Straw.
