*After the opening act the power went out. Elvis came out and stood on the front of the stage and took requests, just playing his guitar and singing. After three or four songs they began to be worried about the battery backup on the lights, so they kicked everyone out of the building. As we were standing outside, Elvis came again, this time with a megaphone with a little police-style talk microphone hooked to it by a coiled cord. The microphone was draped on a music stand, a stage hand held up the megaphone, and Elvis played while Steve played Melodica for a song or two while everyone circled around. Eventually the power came back on and we all went back into the auditorium. He played everything, but the three things I remember now, a couple months later, are: The generosity of Elvis, working so hard to give a good show for those who came to hear him, the stunning quality of his voice without any amplification, and the intensely beautiful song "[[The River In Reverse (song)|The River In Reverse]]" from an album that he had not yet released. --[[User:Mtoy|Mtoy]] | *After the opening act the power went out.
