To close out the recent American tour, the Jam called a press conference in the suave Americana Hotel, off Times Square, in New York. The Band's two-might, four-show residency at CBGB's, the celebrated punk grotto had been hailed as the media event of the month, and the turnout at the conference reflected the interest aroused in British new wave.
