Da haben wir sie, unsere Vielzweckwaffe, mit der wir auf einen Schlag alle Probleme in puncto Weihnachtsgeschenke los sind. ''Blood & Chocolate'' ist ein Hit für Oldiefans (obwohl keine Oldies drauf sind), es freut sich der Rock 'n' Roller und stellt einfache Gemüter ebenso zufrieden wie intellektuelle Denkerhirne. Denn Elvis Costello alias Napoleon Dynamite macht Musik im Geist der frühen Rolling Stones und Kinks, er läßt die Orgel jaulen, kitzelt altertümliche Sounds aus seiner Gitarre und klingt bei allem Überfluß noch hochmodern. Sparsam geht er ans Werk, wiegt fröhliche Losgehnummern sorgsam mit gefühlgetränkten Balladen aus und trifft mit jedem Wort ins Schwarze.
