I enjoyed your list and your one criteria of avoiding his "unfortunate" tendency towards 'medley covers". If it were my list I would substitute two for Psycho and Femme Fatale- replacing them with Sweet Dreams and Hot Burrito #1 [I'm Your Toy] as I think he has always done a good job when he can sink his teeth into a strong country soul song like those two- a musical genre he has a predisposition towards. I have always wanted to hear him tackle Pale Blue Eyes, however, in place of Femme Fatale. I would also create a sub set for duets and include Crazy with his wife and Mr Nelson, Are You Havin' Any Fun? with Mr. Bennett and Love Hurts with Ms. Harris. You got me thinking and that is fun.

I was a little surprised that no songs from Almost Blue made the list, but imo that material doesn't feel quite as "lived in" as his later country/bluegrass songs. Duets is a great idea and yeah Love Hurts would make it for sure. Glad I got you thinking, that's the fun!

For me, that Sleeper song would have to be on there.
(Whatever it's called...)

I think it's one of the more beautiful things he's done in his career.

"What Do I Do Now?" Yeah that's a good choice.

I had forgotten about that one- nice choice. Shows how little I listen to that album.

If he was able to temper the vibrato and not go over the top vocally- I too think it would be a special interpretation.
