Elvis Plays Sligo Live Festival, 29 October 2011

Post by Man out of Time »

Elvis is playing his only Irish date this year as headliner at the Sligo live festival on Saturday 29 October.

http://www.sligolive.ie/elvis-costello- ... -2011.html

It is not clear if he is playing in a field, or a tent, or something warmer.

Tickets on sale from 9am on Friday 15 April, here:

http://www.ticketmaster.ie/event/18004689CFDD4DBA

Can some UK dates precede this?

Elvis back in Ireland - great!

I wonder why the Ticketmaster link says Oct. 30th?
only Republic of Ireland appearance in 2011.
Interesting choice of words. It could mean there will also be a date in Northern Ireland. We'll see.

A 'phone call to the venue tells me that for music/conferring events the capacity is usually around 1,200.

And then take a cab like on the song from North:

"Hail to the taxi
They go near Sligo"

Apologies

Still tickets are available for this. Ticketmaster tell me the reason I haven't received mine yet is because it will be sent 'closer to the date'.

I've just booked accomodation via http://www.bandbsligo.ie/

“An Crúiscin Lan” is an Irish (Gaelic) name which means “The Full Jug”.

The family business was established in 1950, originally as a bar, singing lounge & grocery shop. The B&B was added later, in the early sixties.

The grocery business continued into the early seventies & the pub was discontinued in 1998.

There is now an ethnic grocery shop in the area, where the pub was operated from. The B&B is still run by the McGettigan Family.

Ticketmaster Ireland are no longer accepting orders, indicating that they have now, indeed, sold out their allocation.

The organisers are still selling tickets -

http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/TicketP ... edule=list

Only €41.00 ( including booking) - cheaper than Ticketb*******ds, but then thats no surprise.

Hello Everybody

We have been holding onto your emails for a good while now and, it appears, there's now an army of you. It's very exciting to be sending something out to so many people. The email input process has been insightful... some of you have some 'interesting' email addresses.

Anyway. Going to keep you updated with regular, but not incessant, emails on How and Where things are going. No reason Why, though. No one knows the answer to that...

News

I greatly appreciate all ye who have bought the Bothy Sessions EP which is still available from the website, if any of you guys that don’t have it are interested in purchasing.

I’m going to be doing a video shoot this sunday for the new EP which will be released early next year. The recording is all finished, I like it. I hope you’ll like it when it comes out. Had a bunch of great musicians join me in creating it and a wonderful producer, Ian Grimble.

This week I embark on a European tour supporting the band, Fink; a small tour in England with the wonderful Roddy Woomble;and a fleeting support slot with Elvis Costello at Sligo in Ireland - Going to busy right up until late November.

For a list of the dates look at this - http://www.rachelsermanni.net and for some continuous information on the adventures - http://www.rachel-sermanni.tumblr.com.

Also excited to say I have been working on twelve sonnets based on the typical archetypes of the Zodiac. The plan is to create a mandala-like design for each poem, all patterns and symmetries, then add a little music for each one too. These are going to be released over the course of next year as exclusive little treats for whoever desires.

Here's a link to the Video I've just uploaded to the blog. It looks, briefly, over the past few months - http://www.youtube.com

Hope you enjoy

Bye for now

Saw her supporting Ron Sexsmith recently. Enjoyable enough, too much fake American accent, slightly unconvincing songs, easy on the ear. Worth catching as a support.
