Spring is here!

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Spring is here!

Post by Jack of All Parades »

If you have been in a funk for months like I have perhaps this will cheer you up[it has me as they begin to pop up in my yard along with the aconites, snow drops and crocuses] wish it were my back yard right now:
http://travel.webshots.com/photo/100727 ... kdQXpxQYPc

and that always goes with this and it's gentle reminder to use one's inner reveries:

"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud"

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed---and gazed---but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

William Wordsworth

But my recovery would not be complete without this gem from Stan Getz and a few friends:

Joyous Spring everyone!!!

Well said

Not quite as eloquent but I was lying on the bed listening to Abbey Road before I went to sleep and 'Here Comes The Sun' came on and woke me from my (golden) slumber. Always make me feel good as spring and summer approach.

Lovely sunny morning here in old London town

A joyous early spring greeting to you Sheep. Wish I were in London as it is snowing yet again here in NY. London has to be one of my favorite cities. I am with Dr. Johnson on its merits-"if a man is tired of London, he is is tired with life".

Hopefully this is what you are feeling in London today:

William Wordsworth
"Composed upon Westminster Bridge, Sept. 3, 1802"

Earth has not anything to show more fair:
Dull would he be of soul who could pass by
A sight so touching in its majesty;
This City now doth, like a garment, wear
The beauty of the morning; silent, bare,
Ships, towers, domes, theaters, and temples lie
Open unto the fields, and to the sky;
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.
Never did sun more beautifully steep
In his first splendor, valley, rock, or hill;
Ne'er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!
The river glideth at his own sweet will:
Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;
And all that mighty heart is lying still!

We are having some lovely Spring days.

I've been in London this week and wandering around without a coat in the gorgeous sunshine.

And appreciating some of the most beautiful women. One lady gave me one of those smiles that stay with you forever and you become even more grateful for the weather because those things don't happen when it's cold or raining. Not to me anyway!

Christopher, Dr J was right. I am and Londoner and moved out about 12 years ago, I have only recently returned to work here after a few years working near home. There doesn't seem to be much of a recession in the City, the pubs and bars are booming if nothing else. And the construction of office blocks is getting higher and higher.

My Daughter has just returned today from New York, she is full of how great your city is. It was her first visit. I am look forward to seeing her photos.

VG there certainly are some lovely women in the city today and this week.

Sheep and VG- jealous of your beautiful early spring days. Perhaps this will speak to your wandering the streets of London girl watching although it is really not politically correct and references a different season:

Sheep- enjoy your daughter's return. My middle one will be coming back on the 27th from Kyoto, Japan her studies cut short by the unfolding disaster in that country. She is non too happy to be back under dad's roof. NYC is a definite place to visit at least once in your life. I lived there for over 25 years when I was younger. My favorite American cities are San Francisco and Boston.

I'd hardly say I was wandering the streets of London watching women :lol: It makes me out to be some sort of lech :lol:

One of the lovely things about this time of year is being able to go out in the garden in the evening and sit out there or play with the children.

It's nicer as the year unfolds and you get to stay out later, not because the weather is nicer, but because it's warmer.
