Smell
That smell
That awful smell
Of which I can't describe.
Not slime, nor sludge or grime
Not gas, or roadkill large or small
Perhaps a combination of them all?
Smell
That smell
That awful smell
I thought this was a city?
My city, my hometown
Smell
That smell
That awful smell
Perhaps it's new
Or left behind
From centuries of natural crimes
Nothing illegal, but still not pretty
They've still created
This smelly, polluted 21st century city
21st Century City

Is the smell sposed to be environmental or is it about people? Blue...whats kind of song's it sposed to be? I imagine it as a beat poem, dressed in black clothes, black beret, possible goatee and bongos.
I had to stand on the packed tube in Glasgow today next to a tramp...the guy can't help it, but he stunk to high heaven...like fetid manure. I could have wretched..and it was an odour that stuck in my nostrils all morning. Ugh!

It's about that indistinguishable smell a lot of urban places have... and you're really not quite sure where the smell is coming from. But it's not something you remember growing up around. It seems new.
Yeah, I'm going for a beat poetry kind of feel, though not a song.

This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.
