Hooray!!! I'm extremely excited about this! Cain's is an amazing and surprisingly small venue . I will, however, be 7 months pregnant at the time of this show....so not sure how that will be. Is that even allowed?

From the eclistserv
If the Ryman is the reverent church of country music, then Cain's
Ballroom is the across-the-tracks, back-alley, working-man's-blues after
party. Neither are to be missed if possible, but I have a strong preference
for the up-close, general admission experience at Cain's. Dallas's show
seemed like an honor-student recital to an appreciative but unenthusiastic
audience. Tulsa was the real deal; sweat, energy, roaring cover songs,
another new song, and the hint of another album. The hint coming in the
form of Elvis shouting "Let's just cut the record here" during one of the
thunderous ovations during the encores.
Setlist:
Tulsa
Cain's Ballroom
September 3, 2009
Start 8:10
Mystery Train
All Time Doll
"We heard this was a dance hall." followed by
Mystery Dance (country version)
Down Among the Wine & Spirits
Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down (a highlight)
Blame it on Cain (country version)
Femme Fatale
Delivery Man
Butcher Boy
*I've Lost You* ("New song written today and debuting at Cain's.") A winner
to my ears. Sample line from memory: "You've become an apparition from a
haunted mystery." Upbeat country/soul number. Apparently another
co-authoring by Jim Lauderdale if I understood Elvis's credit of Jim during
applause.
Indoor Fireworks (unfortunately a little too downbeat after the new upbeat
number - crowd noise could be heard)
Hidden Shame
Condemned Man
Friend of the Devil
Poor Borrowed Dress (introduced as the second time ever performed after
debuting in Dallas last night. I like it.)
Red Shoes (country version)
Don't Lie to Me (all band members sing response, along with crowd)
Encore #1
Complicated Shadows
Crooked Line ("only love song I've written without an escape hatch in last
verse")
Brilliant Mistake (!)
Sulfur to Sugarcane (women in audience called out his name first time
without him having to make a show of restarting the song as he did in
Dallas to get the proper response - he was chuffed.)
Everyday I Write The Book (country version - slow sublime harmonies on the
chorus. I love this.)
Encore #2
Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do? (crowd becomes even more
enthusiastic)
Five Small Words / Not Fade Away
Happy
Alison / He'll Have to Go (partly off mic - stunning)
The Race Is On (fun, fun, fun!)
PLU
End 10:35
Multiple band introductions. Notable was last introduction of Lauderdale
as "on vocals and my co-writer". Reminded me of the time he finally
introduced Davey F. as "bass and vocals" rather than just "bass" at the
Hi-Tone shows in Memphis. Seemed like a step up for Jim. Also introduced
Milo and other tour staff.
Those of you that make the trek to Nashville every tour need to consider
a similar commitment to Tulsa. The historic but gritty venue inspires both
enthusiastic performances and audiences.

Elvis Costello and his band the Sugarcanes rolled through Cain's Ballroom last night and wowed the crowd with three hours of new, supernew and classic hits.
Set songs included "Mystery Dance," "My All Time Doll," "Alison," "Sulphur to Sugarcane," "Blame it on Cain," "Brilliant Mistake," "Everyday I Write the Book" and several brand new songs. "This one's so new, it won't be written till next week," he joked as he launched into one tune, reading lyrics from a sheet on a music stand in front of him.
His set also included a slew of all-American honky tonk hits: Elvis Presley's hit song "Mystery Train," Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away," Nick Lowe's "(What's So Funny Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding," The Velvet Underground's "Femme Fatale," Merle Haggard's "The Bottle Let Me Down," the Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil" and even George Jones' "The Race is On."
Costello reminisced about the first time he played the historic downtown Tulsa venue. "Dad used to say, you're name will be in lights. ... Some day you might even play cain's ballroom," he said. Costello's first visit was in 1978.
"We knew a little bit of history of Cain's," he said. "We opened with a few Hank Williams songs. ... That didn't go over too well at the time," he said. The crowd laughed. "But we also played this song," he said as he and his six bandmates on fiddle, standup bass, mandolin, accordion and guitars erupted into the music of "Blame it on Cain."
Sweat dripped from his chin. Steam floated from his heat. He swayed and laughed and hopped and even broke guitar strings. Costello's love of the venue is obvious. The band's love of its vibe was contagious.

... after 12 days of online/offline searching, to me it seems as if no-one who may have recorded 'I've lost you' (1st time EC performance) is yet sharing...
'Sometimes via the senses, mostly in the mind (or pocket)'.

I saw plenty of people recording it. Hopefully it will turn up eventually. The chorus was "I've lost you. I've lost you. You slipped out of your costume." It was quite good.

Re: Elvis/Sugarcanes play Tulsa, Sept. 3 '09
I had been planning to attend the two Texas shows and finish off my mini-tour of the deep South with this show and, having been thwarted by my bosses and been unable to cross the Atlantic, I'm desperate for recordings to rub in what I've missed. Austin was terrific and Grand Prairie seemed fine but this would be the crowning glory - so please make it available if you've recorded it !! Thanks in advance .
Re: Elvis/Sugarcanes play Tulsa, Sept. 3 '09
Considering this comment by Elvis , here's hoping a recording of this may yet surface -

My favorite date of the year was the final show of my tour with the Sugarcanes, at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It’s a venue made famous by Sir Bob and his Playboys. However, it is a dancehall, and the hubbub of the throng doesn’t invite you to drop the tempo that much, so we played every song of a quick tempo that we knew.
Jim Lauderdale and I had written a song that afternoon on the ride from Dallas. It was called “I Lost You,” and we rehearsed and debuted it at the show, so sadly, there was not enough time to also work up our version of “Thorn,” as I had originally planned.
