Maestro Allen Toussaint at Blues Alley Washington, DC 032507

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Maestro Allen Toussaint at Blues Alley Washington, DC 032507

Saw AT last night with Marva Wright. What a show! I sat five feet from the Maestro. Highlight for me was 'Wrong Number' which AT wrote for Arron Neville. AT said that he doesn't normally do a 4 night stand like he did a BA. Said he would be back. Marva Wright was a very nice addition. She came up from a table in the front to do a short set. MW was displaced to the DC - Baltimore area after the Katrina. Was really emotional. Made a point to acknowledge the DC and Baltimore Blues societies help. The sound at BA is about as good as it gets. Seats less then 100. BTW Cybill Shepard (actress) was sitting at the table next to me and appeared to really enjoy the show. Along with a group from Norway. AT is such a class act. A true American treasure! If you get a chance to see him with or without EC please do it!
