Spike tartan

Post by Otis Westinghouse »

I was wondering was it McManus, but it seems not:

Any tartan specialists out there who can name the cloth? Is it significant?

One for John Foyle?

I love tartan, and have always dreamed of having a suit made in the Campbell of Argyll tartan my Campbell mother entitles me to wear:

Very weird. I was just looking at Spike and wondering if the tartan was MacManus, so I search, find it isn't, and then search for anything on the Spike tartan, and find that there is because I posted it, six years ago this very day!

So November 7 is Spike Tartan day, official.

You never took up the challenge, Mr Foyle!

See you back here in 2018.

Just seen this and would, I'm afraid, be of absolutely no help!

Too bad! Probably just chosen for its nice look, but I hoped there was some deeper significance at play.

Well, if you have a few spare hours to work out the code on this:

http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/searchDesigns.aspx

Being completely colour blind I'm not even going to attempt it.

Nice site, but seems to be more for registering than recognising. I'd recommend an A-Z search here:

Any volunteers?

Could be modification of both Macmanus and Costello

Hmm, decent try. Pattern is similar but colour palette looks too bright. Then again one tartan can vary quite a bit in its final look.

Just got excited thinking maybe it's MacBeth, but sadly not at all like it!
