London Meet Up - July 9th

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

London Meet Up - July 9th

Post by verbal gymnastics »

Now that I've done a Lazarus, I'm looking at a London meet up on Saturday 9th July (venue to be decided).

Who's available? It would be great to meet some of the newer members as well as some of the older ones who have yet to join us. And we could do with some female company to mediate when we discuss hair, make up and recipes.

Count me in, though I need to be up early Sunday to head to Cornbury with my family and tent for an evening with Elvis.

If you did this in mid-September, I could be convinced...

MBA - Well, we try to meet up often. If you're around mid-September then I'm sure we could fix it up. We try to welcome our trans-Atlantic cousins. Just ask WhoShotSam and Muggy.

When we all met for the Hammersmith show in February, did anyone take DrJ's phone number? He said he wanted to join us if he could the next time we arranged a meet up. I've PM'd him. If you've got his number can you give him a call.

So far it's

VG
Otis
BWAP
SoLack

ie the usual suspects!

Anyone else?

He's abandoned us! I scribbled down an address, but no number. Not even sure I can locate the address...

The London meet up is still on although there's only myself, SoLacklusre and Boy With A Problem at the moment. We'll be meeting up in the afternoon although we haven't decided where yet.

Anyone else is more than welcome to join us. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you my mobile number. As ever ladies, form an orderly queue.

The first beer is on me!

Well we had a nice sober drink on Saturday!

Unfortunately anjabro was unable to join us which was a shame and DrJ is in Dublin until today.

I'm beginning to think it must be us...

Myself, BWAP and Solack met up on Saturday at about 4pm and hit a few pubs as well as having a meal in Chinatown.

We had a few drinks. The one over the eight really was less than one and more like four...

Mrs VG went to the theatre again with her girl friends to see Mary Poppins so we travelled to London together. We left each other at the train station as we went separate ways but I felt really choked and heavy eyed when I left her. The West End was very eerie. There was - as you would expect - a lot of police around but it was quiet. I was walking along to meet the others and couldn't hear any noise yet the streets were quite busy.

Whilst we were on a pub crawl there were only a couple of occasions when we were reminded of what had actually happened over the last couple of days. I met up with Mrs VG at 10.45pm and we caught the train back at 11pm. SoLack and BWAP had just ordered another drink when I had to leave them.

It was a great day (even a hangover and spending 3 hours out in the garden yesterday couldn't dampen it!) and we might try and meet again in September as one of the board members may be in town.

Sorry I couldn't join you, and hope to be for a September sesh. Was thinking how it must have been odd to be out in London that night. Not as weird as Birmingham, though.

Sorry, my dear friends, but I won't be in London after all...I was going to take a few weeks off work, but decided to quit altogether. I haven't given notice yet; it's a long sort of quitting, the kind you save up for, but I do have plans for afterwards...big, exciting plans...secret plans...

A public thanks to VG and BWAP, a good day. Met up, drank some, drank some more, ate some, drank lots more, my idea of a day well spent.

'Politely' is a relief.

I'm going to King's Cross tomorrow. The thought of it is spooking me. I guess statistically it's unlikely that there's more danger, although there have been mentions of police fears that more is on the way. But that's irrelevant anyway, it's the psychological impact of it. Brought home to me today by hearing of a colleague's sis who was on the tube yesterday and it came to a stop between stations for no apparent reason, and then after a while the driver said he was trying to find out what was happening. The sis freaked out, understandably. I'm a calm sort, but would have been seriously rattled. I keep thinking about poor Miriam Hyman. One day you're at an open air gig by your favourite singer, and a few days later this has happened...

I had a great time as well - I counted five pubs and a restaurant with more than one at most of the stops. I finally got out of bed around noon on Saturday.

It was at least five Otis. There were probably plenty more.

Muggy - we've already had the pleasure of drinking with you for a few hours. Next time we meet we'll have to make it a whole day.
