Where are the EC Ring Tones?

Post by normabuel »

Personally, I abhor those obnoxious ring tones. But I just bought a new phone that supports download-able ring tones. Does anyone know if there are any available EC ring tones that I can download. I plan to use it as a defense against a person in my immediate vicinty having a particularly obnoxious ringtone.

I found some GREAT ringtones, that sound really really authentic for "Watching The Detectives", "Uncomplicated", and others. Sadly, I can't remember the site... just use google, that's how I found them.

If you have AT&T they offer you Mmode for the first month free. There you can download tons of ring tones from there various websites. Heres what I found:

Pump it Up
45 (I have this one)
Almost Blue
She
Still
Alison
Umcomlicated
I wish that I could push a button
And talk in the past and not the present tense
And watch this hurtin' feeling disappear
Like it was common sense
It was a fine idea at the time
Now it's a brilliant mistake

I'm not sure where you're based but you can find some here:

Spooky and I just got new phones which support downloadable ringtones. From what I can tell, a lot of phones support downloading MIDI files from a PC with an infrared port. My laptop has one but our desktop PC doesn't. I found some EC (along with the Smurf and Monty Python themes) as MIDI files and they seem to play OK after downloading them. I found a few EC midi files for free at http://www.ecostello.com/audio.shtml.

I looked at some phone which could also play MP3's as ringtones.

If you have an infrared or "IRDA" port on your PC and phone, there is probably a fairly painless way to load your own tones.

http://www.phoneringsong.com has lots of free tunes for all sorts of mobile phones.

I haven't/wouldn't desecrate EC by putting his song's on my mobile, so I just use Adam and the Ants' Prince Charming, Eddie Grant's Electric Avenue and Gary Numan's Cars.

I have listened to a LOT of MIDIs the past day or so. I am just about convinced that music that was electronic or had that late 70s/early 80s keyboard sound is the best sounding. AC/DC and Queen seems to suck on phones. If it had a bass line, it seems to suck. I found a Rock Me Amadeus that sounded nice.

Actually the Monty Python theme I found was pretty good until it gets about 30 seconds in and then my phone freaks and starts emitting a high pitched squeal. It sounds fine on the computer so must just be a limitation.

Spooky now has Green Shirt as a ring tone on her phone. :)

I also came across "The Bad MIDI Museum" at http://littleitaly.fortunecity.com/vatican/791/midi.htm. Check out that barely recognizable Smoke on the Water.
