Purple...Christ...?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Purple...Christ...?

Post by SoLikeCandy »

I am watching a show called "Superstars of Black Music", and Prince is the featured artist--from his New Year's 2000 concert. I thought the man had lost it, but he is jammin' his little ass off. Larry Graham is on bass with him--the originator of poppin'.

It was a little disturbing to hear him work Jesus into the song "Purple Rain", but DAMN.

Of course, that was 4 years ago. Perhaps he's a little more far gone now...but just four years ago, he worked the stage like a part time job...

Larry Graham--did he play for Sly & the Family Stone?

I recently caught part of a Prince concert recorded in Las Vegas for a pay per view (it was a free pay per view at a friend's house -- I know that's a contradiction in terms, but it was some sort of promotion). The concert looked pretty rockin' and featured Maceo Parker (and a great horn section), Sheila E. and one or two others I can't remember. Also looked like it was pretty recent and had members of Prince's old bands, including Dr. Fink.

Yes--Larry Graham played with Sly and the Family Stone. Cynthia Robinson, trumpet player for Sly, was in the concert, too, as was Maceo Parker. I have to admit, I was blown away...Prince was shakin his ass for Jesus...

Wonder if he still performs "Head" or "Sister"?

I've been a HUGE Prince fan since "Purple Rain." There's supposed to be a 20th-anniversary "Purple Rain" tour this summer.

He's now a Jehovah's Witness. He's been going door-to-door around Minneapolis with Larry Graham (a fellow Witness).

Saw Prince live in 2002, he's still got it...

Hell, I'd gladly be prosyltyzed by Prince and Larry Graham even during the Super Bowl ('course I'm not a sports fan).....
