The Christmas Number One

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Well, I wanted The Darkness to beat The Pop Idols, but I didn't expect this...

MICHAEL ANDREWS FT GARY JULES

2
CHRISTMAS TIME (DON'T LET THE BELLS END)
DARKNESS

3
CHANGES
OZZY & KELLY OSBOURNE

4
PROPER CRIMBO
BO SELECTA

5
HAPPY XMAS (WAR IS OVER)
IDOLS

...fantastic. Discuss...

I remember thinking when I first heard this version of Mad World, when it was used in Donnie Darko, that it would be a hit single at some time or other. I'm delighted to see it happening now, scuppering all those slick marketing plans that aimed to have the other songs at number 1. Good luck to GARY JULES. I read somewhere that he had only got a session fee for doing the track, that must have been wrong since he was on Jonathan Ross on friday, and presumably elsewhere, flogging it. Still he'll probably end up being another Oleta Adams.

i've only heard the remake of Mad World on The Promise on live.365.com. i really like it!

for internet radio, the Promise is really nice - the programmer/dj likes Elvis, and there are NO COMMERCIALS. only station on live.365 that i've found that has no commercials. 'cause i'm not gonna pay extra to have the commercials cut out.
