Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson. She's quick-witted, charming, and irreverent, and so is he. She can also be ser-io-us. (Wit, anyone?) In more general terms, she went from stand-up comedy to Sense and Sensibility. Elvis went from This Year's Model and Blood & Chocolate to All This Useless Beauty to North. Clearly, they both have edge -- as well as literary sides...

She can probably sing -- many actors are trained to sing, given broadway shows and the like. (As an aside, did anyone see Kevin Spacey do "Mind Games" at the John Lennon tribute a couple years ago? Blew my mind!)

Similarly, Elvis translates well on the TV/in his film appearances, so we have some symmetry. That's my 2-minute case...
"My Favorite Things" are playing again and again
But it's by Julie Andrews and not by John Coltrane...
