Congratulations. Shame about the lack of refs to ManU, but otherwise perfect.

I asked everyone to "stand up if you hate United" at the end and they all rose in unison!

It seems that even United fans hate United at the moment.

Nice speech WSS - I might use it myself - without changing any words and not necessarily at a wedding. Maybe tomorrow at the staff meeting.

Briefly got excited when I miss read the title of the tower of dogs thread as tower of drugs.

Happy half birthday Miss BA. I'm praying for you.

It's not her actual birthday, it's her half birthday.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

We were watching a program called "Search for the Giant Squid" on PBS when my wife went into labor with our first child, so the giant squid has positive associations in my mind (though maybe not so positive for her :-))

Glad they've finally caught one on film.

Now THAT is hilarious! Do you now call your eldest 'Squiddy' or anything?

No, I don't think she would dig that.

But every time I hear a mention of the giant squid I think back to that night - and the following day. She went into labor around 9-10PM and didn't deliver until the following afternoon. I was so happy when it was all over - but not nearly as happy as she was!

Well I have to say that in the final weeks of my pregnancy I certainly felt like they could've done a science fiction film about me, something like THE GIANT SQUID ON MY BLADDER!

:D

Yeah, that final month and a half of pregnancy didn't look like a helluva lot of fun. At least she didn't have to go through that during the summer in our (now formerly) un-air conditioned house.

I suppose I'm expected here to make some witty quip or correction about L.A. geography and culture and stuff, but I got nothing!

Nice speech, though!

It really is an amazing thing to grow another human. I always tell my male child-bearing type friends that they're lucky their wives don't have to devour them mantis-style after conception.

Thanks bobster. I actually haven't been back to LA since 1988, so it's quite possible that seismic activity has moved Beverly Hills a lot closer to the ocean.

Not as far as I know. Properties values, however, have moved closer to alpha centauri.
