Song Titles Game Redux

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Picture Book - The Kinks
This song is currently being ruined here as it's used in a non-stop advertising campaign for digital cameras or something - I hate when they do this.
Well, the advertising campaign might be ruining it for some...but since I'd never heard the song (or forgot it completely), it introduced a great pop tune to me. I didn't even know it was by the Kinks, though that was my first guess. And, I have to say, it's actually a pretty good set of commercials, as these things go. I'm probably now that much more likely to out and buy my first ever Kinks album (don't ask me why I haven't already!)

So, now we know at least part of the reason that songwriters allow these things to happen, assuming they still own the rights to the song.

****

No ideas for a Cemetary Gates follow-up...Perhaps a song BY David Gates (of Bread)....?

bobster's comment brings up an interesting point - reminds me of how a lot of people were introduced to the music of Nick Drake: VW ads.

Let's face it, while the artists are selling out, it gives songs that don't get any radioplay a lot of airtime, even if they are being used as a sell out.

Besides, I'd rather hear "Picture Book" than "Welcome To The Jungle" while I'm watching TV.

but it's Hewlitt Packard - and the song isn't exactly pro-photography (maybe that's the joke - why Ray consented) - aren't people taking pictures to prove that they loved each other - and if you've got the cd with the bonus tracks - check out People Taking Pictures of Each Other..scathing....anyway I watched too much tv and it would have been ok once or twice - but it seemed like I kept getting hammered with it.

Hey...I was saving this joke for an appropriate special occasion! Now, it's gone. Like Gloria Gaynor and Bob Weir said, however, I will survive.

And then you went and stole my song idea too! Damn you, BWAP! Damn you.
