The other guest will be Courtney Cox, so not some big name. Hopefully they'll have time to interview Elvis. http://www.interbridge.com/lineups.html

From a Emmy forum -

I'm not exactly sure how to explain this but the version with Elvis that I heard last night in concert reminded me more of the version that Emmylou had done with Gram Parsons than the version that she usually does in concert with Buddy. I think the difference (among other things) is that when she performs it with Buddy, Emmylou is almost singing more of a lead, while with Gram, and now with Elvis C., it's more of a full duet, (and if anyone is singing lead, it's the male). Anyway, hope I haven't offended anyone with this comment but in my view, even if you've heard her sing the song dozens of times before, you should try to check out Emmylou singing Love Hurts with Elvis Costello on Letterman on Thursday night.

I could do with the hat...and maybe even the shirt...but that jacket just has to go. I too hope that he picks something a little different for the Today's Show. I heard the song performed like that for the first time in Atlanta and when they were trying to get started they Emmy said she had forgotten how they started it. It was funny. It's much better than the rock version I've heard in the past. All in all, I wish they could've done an interview with Dave, but the song was enough I guess.

EC is famous for his bizarre getups on Letterman - anyone remember him doing So Like Candy with Toshi Regan in full hip hop regalia? I thought he looked excellent. Poor Steve got shafted on the camera time though....and he was playing a cool old upright! I loved this and would appreciate anyone with an Mp3 letting me know...

Could some good American supply us , via http://www.yousendit.com , with the audio?
He sang relatively quietly, as if he were trying to affect a different style. I couldn't tell the song until a few bars in. The 'boys' were pushed way in back & I couldn't see if Steve N. was part of it @ all. At the end, Dave came out to greet & gave a wave to the rest of the band. They often seem to have issues w/stage space that can accomodate more than four bandmates.

I taped it and thought it was great. Watched it twice and I would rate it up there as one of his top talk-show performances ever. The hat and the jacket and sunglasses were VERY cool, I thought. 1 part Hank, Jr., 1 part Gram, 2 parts Elvis, I ate it up. Not a big fan of the original recording, but now I've had the fucking song going through my head the last couple days. The tremolo on the guitar turned up, and Elvis singing his ass off. Emmylou and Elvis are great together. Now, if he could just ditch that hag named Diana.

Haha! Is that Jimmy Page?!?!?! Please spare us, Elvis! But I guess his outfit DID match his current "American boy" phase! It's only ironic to see his next performance in which he was neatly dressed in a suit like the good ol' AF-GH!!-TR days! Very funny picture, Mike. Kudos.Mike Boom wrote:Elvis Wardrobe Malfunction

Let alone Pete!Helios wrote:On the subject of outfits, are hats to become the trend in Elvis shows? I notice that both he and Davey F. often wear them. Can we expect the other two to join in? I somehow can't picture Mr. Nieve donning one while tending to the keyboards.

Credit where credit's due, elvis_cool is the great American who has made those mp3s available. Save them by right-clicking on the link, go to the Save Target as... line, click on that, and then, when asked which folder on your computer you want to save it to, line up the folder and click on Save. You may find it's busy, try again later.
