London Meet Up - Saturday September 4th

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Sorry lads but I have to cancel. The arrival of London colleagues on my NY gig next week means that I'll no longer get the round-the-world trip that I'd hoped for.

Have one for me...

how bout we send WHAR to be the token Obnoxious American? I know Jackson would love to meet him.

only you have to swear to keep him.

You book his ticket, we'll play charming hosts!

Shame about your colleagues, Storm. I was looking forward to hearing the absurd extents of your Bowie collection.

I personally am not bothered about seeing the game, it ain't Man U after all. I've had enough England for one year! But if others know a good venue, then great. I know a footie pub on the South Bank where I saw most of the Eng v Turkey game before seeing Elv + Steve at the RFH. don't know nowhere more central. Won't they all be heaving?

I'm not bothered about the England game either.

Great news about Vierra today!!

Owen's off to play for Real Reserves.

Looks like the Mancs will be relying on Smith & Forlan up front early season, they just better hope that Giggs is in form!

Not wanting to sound too much like a school ma'am, but can I just point out (and I held myself back the last time) that it's Vieira, not Vierra! So you don't need to drop him from your FF team. Will he still be as dedicated, though? Maybe he'll be adversely affected all season.

Come on you Diego! at least Giggsy was delivering on Wed. I'm sure Sunday will be very tough indeed.

Thanks Goody, but on many occasions I've met both requirements (including a nasty incident with the people at Rail-Air Express Heathrow this past Friday) -

A couple of weeks ago I was caught in a rain storm and stumbled into this pub in the Charing Cross area - I liked it a lot, but I'm not sure about tv screens -

The Ship and The Shovell -

Bump!

BWAP - I tried the link but it wouldn't work.

Any other ideas as to where to meet?

I know a couple of places in Charing Cross/Leicester Square/Covent Garden which will be OK to meet up in and then move on.

What time shall we meet up?

I'm up for an early one!

Anyone else free to join us?

I'm hoping for an international tour, cos the one and only time I was in your country, in order to get out, I had to sign this little piece of paper that I wouldn't come back. 8) That or a t-shirt, preferably not brown.

Were you seeking asylum MDM?

And nobody should voluntarily wear a brown T shirt.

Hey, I think brown T-shirts are getting an inordinate amount of stick on this board! My favourite t-shirt is brown (not through use)...so there. :D

I propose we Americans meet in Vegas. I've never been there and I think I should go. Crap tables are beckoning me.

I'm all for showing up early and staying late.

Where do you suggest VG? Any of those locations sound good, as long as I can get back to Waterloo in time to catch the last train.

(I'm not sure what the trouble is with the link, it's working for me).

Hi all.

Sorry, but I've been off work for a week.

How about we meet at the Coal Hole in the Strand, purely because it's really easy to get to. Basically, you come out of Charing Cross station and turn right into the Strand and it about 500 yards on that side of the road.

It's not brilliant but it's an easy starting point and Covent Garden is practically opposite.

Shall we meet up about 7pm? I can make it earlier if anyone wants to.

Feel free to PM me and I'll give you my mobile number (that goes to anyone on the board what with me being so free and easy and all that   ).

Sounds good to me. Can't recall if I've been there, but am certainly aware of it. 7pm good for me, or a bit earlier if consensus dictates. You'll know me by my T-shirt, or if Jackson gets there before me. There's even a photo of me buried deep in the original photo thread, but that was before I became a haggard, hirsute 40 year old. See y'all there.
