How do you keep up with that many characters?
With great difficulty.

I fucking don't know who Colin Creevy is!
He's an earnest and likeable character who is in awe of his hero, and who plays a central part in the second book. He ain't annoying!

Okay, so much to say, and only one "box" to do it in on these vitally important matters....

Thanks for making me Randy Newman, El Vez. Not sure if we have that much in common other than sarcasm and good natured cynicism, though. Also, he once suffered from Chronic Fatique Syndrome and I frequently suffer from lazy person syndrome. I guess now I can't make you Alan Smithee. (See below.)

BlueChair -- Don't hate Harry if you've only see the rather dull and mediocre movie(s). If you tried reading the books then...okay (I guess).

Which leads me to another questions, who's Sirius Black? Guess he's coming up (I've only read the first two books), but I'm just glad to have made the list and not be named Dobby! (Sorry, BWAP!)

Anyway, presto-chango, you are now well-known filmmakers. (My apologies if you ou don't know who "you" are, you should be able to find them by using the search engine on the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com), if you're so inclined.)

Dr Spooky - Geores Franju
A Rope Leash - Oliver Stone (it was either that or Michael Moore....)
Johnfoyle - Michael Powell
Martinfoyle - Emeric Pressburger
Otis Westinghouse - Orson Welles (is it just the initials???)
BlueChair -- Sophia Coppola
RedShoes -- Spike Jones (see, I'm using the Ms. Buenos Aires dictum here!)
El Vez - Francious Truffuat, or maybe Jack Hill
Misha - Thomas Edison (who hadn't seen many movies either!)
LessThanZero -- Sydney Pollack
SpookyGirlfriend - George Cukor
Boy With a Problem -- Quentin Tarentino
Goody2Shoes - Ozu (can't remember the first name...Yasuhiro?)
Miss Buenos Aires - Ida Lupino (not a "gender" thing! This fits, somehow)
DrJ - Peter Jackson
Mood Swung - Jane Campion
Copenhagen fan - Takashi Miike or Hershel Gordon Lewis or the Dark Brothers or Henri Pachard or Seymore Butts
Verbal Gymnastics - Eric Rohmer
Sulkygirl - Sam Peckinpaugh
Selfmademug - Alfred Hitchcock
So Lacklustre - Robert Bresson
Noiseradio - Frank Capra
PlaythingorPet - Seijun Suzuki
Laughingcrow - Federico Fellini
Bambooneedle - Akira Kurasawa
Jackson Doofster - Billy Wilder
pip_52 - Tsui Hark
Taz - Walt Disney
Mr. Misery -- Paul Schrader (and guess what...you both look like my late Uncle Bob!)
SoLikeCandy - Stanley Donen
Who Shot Sam? - John Ford
Tokyo vogue - Jean Luc Godard
Oilyslick - Howard Hawks
KingofSpain - Pedro Almodovar
Lapinsjolis - Jacques Demy
Tim(e) - Robert Wise

Gillibeanz- Is it my hair or the pearls? Thank you she is the sane one in the insane universe.

Bobster-'Umbrellas of Cherbourg' is one of my all time favorites! I'd kiss you for that but you've made me a man.

Hey Bobster...Sirius Black is a great character, and without giving any plot away, rest assured with my choice.

Fellini eh...well at least I got to make Ginger e Fred! PS...Wot no Kubrick??? I guess that's you then.

Cheers for the Daffy Duck thang too Gilli..... :D we look pretty similar.

Woops! Forgot your hatred of Capra-corn. Okay, I now name thee....

Jerry Lewis (I hear he's quite respected in France!)

Gilli--never heard of Angela Anaconda, but on one website I found, it says that she is the "realest girl in 3rd grade", which sounds good, till you get to where it says "she is not a high achiever"! PERFECT! I love it!

Bobster--never heard of Ozu, either, but it sounds like he was a high achiever, so you've obviously got me pegged all wrong!

Been away for a couple of days (probably not long enough for some of you!!) and just spent awhile catching up with this thread!!

Otis - It was the goatee that done it!
LC - like 'our Cilla' you spent a short amount of time in Liverpool!
El Vez - You come across as having a large amount of soul.
BC - I think of you as a flambouyant singer songwriter, am I wrong?

Oily - Thanks for the Hawkeye mention he was one of my tv heroes as a kid, and as it happens I now have the ability to consume lots of martinis before collapsing in a drunken heap.

Gilli - Pink Panther is cool. Thanks.

Bobster - I must admit that I didn't know who Robert Bresson was, but having read his biog on imdb.com I am highly honoured.

Crow - Who is Voldemorte?

Gilderoy Lockhart...I've read 1 and 1/2 of the books and I don't recall this dude. I hope he isn't one of Draco's friends.

Scooby Doo?!?!?!? He's my hero!! thanks, gilli!

I had to look up Jane Campion, but I'm very flattered---thanks, bobsterino!

Choices

Mood - if you'd rather be a flying monkey, there's plenty of spots left for that!

Hmmm...muchkin vs flying monkey...

Such tough decisions!

Bobster,

I love Jerry Lewis. And I am French, at least partly. Perhaps that's why. But I think it's likely just because he's really funny. I was watching King of Comedy the other night, and his performance is just so great. So, no sarcasm.
