No sour grapes - Chelsea may have won anyway - but Rob Stiles is a total twat of a referee and ruined the game as a contest very early on.

And Man U should have got 3. That was a clear-cut penalt,y and I'm sure Jackson agrees. Gavin Peacock certainly did. Actually, it was probably 50-50, trailing leg, or goalie bringing down. Given RVN's reputation, you will all opt for the former. Whatever, MU keep it solid. It's so good to see both wonderboys scoring.

So, Owen to Newcastle - good move or disaster waiting to happen?

Also, Spurs get the overrated Jenas.

Hard to disagree with that. Almost as bad as Uriah Rennie.

Who for?

Owen hasn't exactly been keen about going to Newcastle has he? And there are rumours of a get out clause if anyone wants to pay what Newcastle have paid for him.

None of the top clubs want him so it must have been a massive dent to his ego. Benitez has not exactly been enthusiastic in the interviews either. I think this all stems back to last season when Owen left. I don't think Benitez thinks Owen suits how he wants Liverpool to play.

Souness and the odious Shepherd and Hall have the fans off their back for the time being.

But at least Owen will be playing regularly.

I wonder how much he'll cost in the fantasy football...

I feel sorry for the man, and want him to do well for England's sake, as long MU thrash them at OT (foregone conclusion).

The headlines will write themselves
"Two goal Tally for Tiny Toon Terror" (if he gets lucky)
"Owen The Boot Comes In"
" Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads ?" If Owen/Shearer fail to net

I'm just happy to see him playing regular football again.

Gilli, yesterday just before midnight Spurs signed Polish international, Grzegorz Rasiak. He played for Derby last season, scoring 17 goals.
I do hope he will be an asset to your team.

Did they "swoop" for him or "snap him up"? Makes all the difference in the world. Pompey had the audacity to make a "triple swoop" at the deadline. Now that takes balls.

Not sure what the purpose of Jenas is, unless there is going to be a radical change in our formation. I keep looking for signs of a plan, but it seems to be, buy as many young midfielders as possible and let them play cards for a starting position.... :?

Yeah, how many half-good central midfielders do Tottingham need? And is Rasiak going to displace any of Defoe Keane and Mido, or have they bought him for the league cup? Tottingham now have a first team squad of 6357.

Why Poom? Just one look and then my heart went zoom?

And what are Charlton doing buying the dodgy Bothroyd? Especially as they just got rid of the dodgy Jeffers. Maybe they have a rule that they must have one dodgy geezer. Dumbasses.

Well Davids has been booked three times in three games so he'll be getting a regular break.

IP: Thanks for the info - I dont always get a chance to read the paper every day! There is going to be a lot of culling in midfield thats for sure!

Nice to see we have 16 spurs players up for a place in the England squad. Shame England are playing Wales on Sat, obviously I would have liked to see Wales get through but not at our expense.

Nice 2-0 win over Mexico sends the US through as the first CONCACAF qualifier. Beasley - the PSV player - looked mighty impressive. Great sour grapes from the Mexican manager after the match:

"The U.S. is a small team," he said. "They play like my sister, my aunt and my grandmother."

England not too impressive, I take it?

Lots of reasons - they are part of the UK, and Wales is a beautiful country - we often go there for a weekend. I also like the welsh people.

Not a sentence you hear that often.

WSS - The England game was awful. Where do you begin talking about it? The mystifying substitutions? The lack of shape?

The one highlight of the match was Robinson's save.
