Thing you like about an EC song
A new Elvis song game designed to provoke possibly overdue close listening to unpredictably selected songs from among EC's catalogue. You say what you like particularly about the nominated EC song/recording, and you select the next one.

All.
Particularly: the piano intro with the "ooooh", and when guitar and drums stop and a warm and heartfelt voice goes:
"Darkness would become me underneath the table
As the fury raged around the house
Your despairing tread was angry and unstable...".
Next:
Crimes Of Paris.

The sense of foreboding and tension captured with the beginning sequence of "Beyond Belief", to this day, sends visible shivers down my spine. And in the same tune (my #1 fav bar none) when he belts: "You might make it California's Fault, be locked in Geneva's..."
That is the essential EC for me.

"King Horse" is all about the riff, piano and horns - majestic if you will yet "neon light" sleazy.
"So Like Candy" ...
"So Like Candy" ...
echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load

White Knuckles? Nieve's nursery rhyme-type melody (bit like Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star) going on under the full-tilt, underrated belter about domestic violence and desperation ("Now it's a petty crime on the news at nine but it's all she's got") with some really scary imagery ("maybe they should be hung by their tongues")

The couplet of couplets:
You got something that I want now
I got something I can't hide
I've got too much love for you now
You've got too much pride
Also a nice rocking end to one of EC's most rocking albums.
This should be a tough one:
Eisenhower Blues[/i]

And he says, "I know you"
"You gave me this tattoo back in '82"
"You were a spoilt child then with a record to plug"
"And I was a shaven headed seaside thug"
"Things haven't really changed that much"
"One of us is still getting paid too much"
Thats why elvis is king
