Arse are paying Soton around £9-10m for Theo Walcott, if reports are to be believed. I've never seen him play, so I have no idea if that's a bargain or not.

An Englishman at Arsenal - it just doesn't sound right.

He's only 16 as well. This is crazy money.

Wayne Routledge?

The only way to try and catch up with Che£scow is to invest in youth, and hope they all come good.

Thank God he isn't going to Chelsea.

God forbid. Look at what it did to young English players like Cole, Lampard and Terry.

Was in the side at the start of the season and promptly got injured for 3 months. Aaron Lennon took his opportunity....who would you play now? Routledge will get his chance.

Based on appearances this season, this is the Spurs first team:

1. Robinson (Eng 26)
2. Stalteri
3. Lee
4. Dawson (Eng 22)
5. King (Eng 25)
6. Davids
7. Jenas (Eng 22)
8. Lennon (Eng 18)
9. Carrick (Eng 24)
10. Defoe (Eng 23)
11. Mido

Countless young English subs. Name another younger English side. Your argument is dead in the water.

Looks like Walcott is off to your place though....the young fool!

I wasn't arguing, just pointing out that not all young english hopefuls that have to th have been successful. I think the plan was to buy as many as possible, and some were bound to come good. Apart from King, I wouldn't want any of them at Arse, maybe Dawson if he continues to progress.

Fair enough. Although I reckon that Wenger regrets not buying Carrick when he had the chance.

All pre-Mourinho. Look what it's doing to Shaun Wright-Philips. He should have been a rising star for the World Cup, and instead he's some sidelined nobody who's losing his confidence as he's got to prove himself in the meagre minutes he's allowed on the pitch. I reckon Arsenal will provide much better career development. I hope the heat is taken off him soon. 16-year-old boy wonders who turn out to have the sort of promise Rooney will clearly build on this summer and beyond are few and far between. And also it's just a bloody relief to see Chelsea losing out in the transfer stakes.

Bought pre-Mourinho, but he's made them into something special.

Dear oh dear Otis. Seems like City have your number. Seven more victories should wrap up the title for us. I don't want to hear people moaning about Chelsea making the League boring. We've hardly been responsible for the inconsistent form of ManU or Arse.

A disappointing result for Spurs, although no shame in it. Sounded very close and as if we had plenty of chances to get more out of it.

Will be feeling the heat from the Arse now!

Pains me to say it, but Henry is just awesome. Easily the best player to grace the premiership. Such a casual genius and with so much humility.

And he blasted one over. Good old Thierry helped me through the pain of our worst Premiership game in a while and City's best by some distance (gotta love Psycho, though, did you see him going mental with the fans after goal 3?), I made him FF captain. 40 points and bonus to be added. Great start for Sunderland and great to know Chelsea haven't kept a clean sheet, but what a shame they lost the lead so soon. Very important that Lampard gets very few points.

It pains me to say it, but the Arse have really flexed their muscles this past week. 7-0 win (who else could you see doing that?) and big big signings. Let just hope the new boys aren't duds.......

Just loaded most of my EC tracks onto my iPod and went for a walk this afternoon. Great selection as it turned out; Beyond Belief, New Lace Sleeves, 5 gears in reverse, My mood swings (Brodsky version) and Brilliant mistake. Then Theo Walcott's song!!! :D

And he didn't want to go to Tottenham either. :D :D

As much as I am no Arsenal fan (who'd have guessed?), I always find it refreshing to see players moving for footie reasons rather than money. I mean, how much can any player want? It was great to see Gerard say no to the Abramovich millions, and it's good to see young Theo, moving to a different club so that he can play with his hero and learn the game at his pace. Chelsea's style of play would never suit him - if he actually got on the pitch at all.

This is the flaw in being a mega rich club like Chelsea. You can only have 11 players on the pitch at once, no matter how rich you are. Players must worry about being the next Bridge, Wright-Philips or Glen Johnson. Rich but unfulfilled.

Why are they paying that for Walcott, when they wouldn't pay a figure less than that for Michael Owen, a proven 20 a yr striker in the prem, and soon to be england's leading goalscorer. madness...........whatever happened to Jermaine Pennant? Exactly.
