What are you listening to right now?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

I would like to see Elvis cover this song sometime, WITH SOUL!

Hello--how are you
Have you been alright, through all those lonely nights,
That’s what I’d say, I’d tell you everything,
If you’d pick up that telephone.

Hey--how you feelin’
Are you still the same
Don’t you realize the things we did were all for real not a dream,
I just can’t believe
They’ve all faded out of view.

I look into the sky
(the love you need ain’t gonna see you through.)
And I wonder why
(the little things are finally coming true)

Telephone line, give me some time, I’m living in twilight
Telephone line, give me some time, I’m living in twilight

O.k. so no--one’s answering,
Well can’t you just let it ring a little longer
I’ll just sit tight, through the shadows of the night
Let it ring for evermore.
Loving this board since before When I Was Cruel.

Bless your crazy soul, LTZ. I could totally hear that. (As I have mentioned many times, with a cowering sort of pride, A NEW WORLD RECORD is a desert island disc for this Mug.)

This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

I am in Muswell Hill with the Kinks. Before that I was on Highway 61 (again).

What a fantastic album. The first Cohen album I've listened to, got it just a few days ago. Where do I go from here?

Which one?

These are the two "must haves" and his best in my book.

Probably in the minority here, but in addition to the two shown above, I love Various Positions.

"The Master Song" gets me everytime.

Pop -

As far as Various Positions, I remember your comment about the quality of the songs being so good that they trumped the stitled, clinical production of that album. I could never get past said stilted, clinical thing even though "Hallelujah" is my second favorite Cohen song ("Bird On A Wire" representin' in '06!) and the rest are right up there. Still, the sound of that record is so depressingly lifeless and not, at least to my ears, in that intentional ambience way. More in the "the 80's sucked so bad" way.

Mug, for me this is the most underrated album of the 90s! Poor Jonny- what happened to him? The only thing I've heard is that he played bass on some of Neil Diamond's new album!
