Elvis Costello 2015 Detour - UK Dates
Re: Elvis Costello 2015 Detour - UK Dates
Just booked for Brighton on June 2nd. So that'll be Brighton & Glasgow & that'll do me. I'll be in Italy June 18 -26 so I can't go to shows in the later part of the tour. What'll happen now, of course, is that dates here in Ireland will be announced....! I kind of doubt it. Elvis has played here quite a bit in the last few years & probably feels that he'll have to wait a year or two to get a crowd again.
Re: Elvis Costello 2015 Detour - UK Dates
and then there will be some late added european dates that messes up the whole summerplanning as well.

Right, I've bought a ticket for Basingstoke. Think that'll be enough to tide me over until he comes to London again.

Cool. I'm taking mini VG to see Larkin Poe tomorrow so if I get a chance to speak to them I'll ask them if they're supporting for the whole tour. For some reason I thought their tour dates clashed on some dates.
It looks like Larkin Poe are sticking around after Elvis's tour to play another stint of UK dates.

Exactly my thoughts. Maybe when he said during his Bluesfest gig he'd be back there this year... he meant later on in the year. Or maybe he was just being nice. *shrug* Lots of tumbleweed running around regarding Elvis playing anywhere near Kent or London this year.Goon Squad wrote:verbal gymnastics wrote:Cool. Luckily, I have a few Paul McCartney gigs to tide me over. Besides, my bank balance has taken a beating from getting those tickets, so maybe I don't mind waiting for a bit longer.

According to their site, they're opening all shows from Gateshead (June 9) to Basingstoke (June 26) with the exceptions of Glasgow (June 11) and Carlisle (June 13).Man out of Time wrote:Also I see that Larkin Poe have been added as support for the show in Leicester on June 22.

Re: Elvis Costello 2015 Detour - UK Dates
Great news
Also I bet some arrangements are being made for a London show but to be honest, unless the setlists change dramatically the 4 shows I'm seeing will be enough. An I never thought I'd say something like that.
The last RAH show was poor and the tour itself was disappointing. The setlists and the Detour shows so far have been more of the same.
At least Larkin Poe bring him to life. I'm hoping there'll be some songs with Ronan as well - at least it'll bring a bit of variety to the gigs.

Didn't realise I'm going to have to drive to Reading to see them all at the Plymouth Pavilions - and there I was expecting a local gig

Thanks to sulky's fantastic 4cd set of the songs performed on the US tour, I'm really looking forward to the UK shows. Away with you cynicism!

A story in the Irish Post on Ronan MacManus' band, confirm that they'll be opening for EC May 31, June 2, June 3, June 4, June 11, and June 13: http://www.irishpost.co.uk/entertainmen ... -new-zeros
In other Detour news, according to the Larkin Poe Facebook page, Rebecca Lovell recently underwent what sounds like a fairly serious (albeit planned) medical procedure, but they still plan on "hitting the road again in May".

Re: Elvis Costello 2015 Detour - UK Dates
To date this has been a terrific tour. It's been far more relaxed and engaging than the disappointment of last year's solo tour.
This is more like the Elvis we know and love.
My theory is that Elvis has come to terms with the family bereavements and has now been able to focus upon what he does best.
