London meet up - Saturday 7th June
Yes it's that time...
You know the drill.
Time and venue to be announced but it's likely to the our old favourite, the Garrick Arms in Charing Cross Road in that thar London town.
And what a line up we have for you...
Sulky lad
So Lacklustre
Man out of time
Andy the Roofdog
Neil.
The mighty John Foyle
and bringing the level of sophistication way down, he's not your particular poison, but he's there anyway, VG.
There's a possible debutant in Sheeptotheslaughter.
If you fancy an afternoon of ready wit and repartee this may not be the place for you but come anyway!

I approve this message.
Is the Garrick set in stone though? Tends to draw too much of the Leicester Sq tourist crowd for my liking. Don't want to rock the boat though...

Think its set in London brick (whatever that is architecturally )
Not sure about attendance now as I may be in Birmingham for the weekend, which actually make sit more feasible but if not I'll have to stay home and babysit the dog !

Re: London meet up - Saturday 7th June
The arrangements have been made. We are meeting at the Two Chairmen pub in Trafalgar Square at 2pm.
MOOT is using his connections to secure us
* A VIP cordoned off area so that we are not disturbed by the general public
* hot and cold running snacks
* beer served by buxom Swedish twins (both male and female)
* a possible secret set from the man himself.
Disclaimer - all of the above are subject to availability
I'm pleased to also announce the debut of Mr Sheeptotheslaughter to the meet up. Let's see if he comes back in the future.
Come one come all!

I felt really guilty walking past the Garrick this weekend. Had to cross the road.

I take it that doesn't rule out any other alcoholic drink...Neil. wrote:See you there! I'm not allowed to have beer.

I'll bet my reputation ie not much that you cannot go all afternoon without having a beer or any other alcoholic drink

We cheated on the Coal Hole by going to the Garrick Arms. Now we have a new mistress. Who knows, on the day we might all feel guilty!the_roofdog wrote:I felt really guilty walking past the Garrick this weekend. Had to cross the road.

I'm not sure we can allow non-board members into the VIP area though. He'll have to sit on the other side of the velvet rope.

Re: London meet up - Saturday 7th June
I just got a ticket for the play ( Brian Friel's Father And Sons at The Donmar Warehouse) that I wanted to see in London on Saturday evening. So instead of my dashing off when Verbal is really getting going with his tales of debauchery I will be able to hang around until early evening - yay!

I may have non Elvis fan Mrs Sheep with me. We are due to meet her brother later as it was her nieces 8th birthday in the week
Don't worry I will make her the other side of the cordon a la Ricky Gervais in the Extras episode with David Bowie

We will have the large table on the first floor reserved from 2pm. It is booked in the name "Foyle". If any problems, say it was booked with "Alex" in the kitchen. Mine's a pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord.verbal gymnastics wrote:The arrangements have been made. We are meeting at the Two Chairmen pub in Trafalgar Square at 2pm.

Thanks to all who turned up. A splendid time was had by all and we talked about all kinds of stuff including the new song ( we liked it ) and the first EC show we'd seen ( how bizarre is it that the first song I ever saw Elvis do , back in '84, was Sour Milk Cow Blues?) and somehow or other we managed to yap on for about four hours. Hurrah!

The state of my head on Sunday morning wishes I'd called it a day at four hours...johnfoyle wrote:somehow or other we managed to yap on for about four hours.
Good to see everyone!
Re: London meet up - Saturday 7th June
Yeah, great to see everyone. Would you believe that the last two stragglers - Roofdog and I - finally called it a day at midnight, to the sound of a pianist playing Champagne Supernova!
