Elvis, Randy Newman at Jazzfest

Post by pophead2k »

Soooooo happy. This year's Jazzfest lineup looks fantastic, with Elvis making his second New Orleans stop in two months. The Fairgrounds where Jazzfest is held is a three minute walk from my front door. Randy Newman, Wilco, Toots and Maytals, Dave Matthews Band, Dave Bartholemew (!), Buddy Guy, James Taylor, a reunited Meters, plus all of our homegrown faves. Anyone care to come on down?

Red and I have never been to New Orleans. Maybe now's the time.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Now's the time! Be forewarned- you may never leave. See: Pophead2k. I came for a long weekend. That was eleven years ago.

The METERS! I fell in love with the Meters a few years ago, after my dad was noodling around on the guitar playing "Just Kissed My Baby". Elvis, the Meters and James Taylor? Pop, if I drive down for Jazzfest, can I stay with you?

And Blue, Pop is right. I went to NO for Spring Break a few years ago and actually cried when it was time to leave. It's the dirtiest, sexiest, most gorgeous town you will ever see. Great food, great people, fabulous sights, cheap booze, great history...it's paradise.

It it wasn't for the humidity, the certainty that I would gain 100 pounds on roast beef po' boys, muffalettas, cheap/good oysters on the half shell, become a drunkard, and lose all my money gambling in the casinos, I'd probably move there.

I am a big Meters fan too. I always check the Funky Meters when they visit Baltimore. Would be something to see AN and GP with the original lineup (ZM and LN) although BS and RB jr (great drummer) are pretty damn are hard to beat. Art's health has really dropped off because of a nerve disease (MS?) so not sure how much longer he will be able to keep touring. Hey Pocky Way!

Well obviously I *want* to! It comes down to finances and time, really. That's right before we're planning (read: hoping) to move out, which could make it a good transitional trip. Or something. I'll have to see if we can find cheap airfare! :)

The drink or the meterological phenomonon (not, haven't drunk a hurricane, just can't spell)? Both, I'm sure.

I once enjoyed a slurpee like beverage in NO called "Joe", made with Everclear.

Actually glad I ingested it. (Though only 3/4 was required to render me officially drunk.)
