Does she like girlystuff? As someone your Mum's age (I suspect) I would recommend this, great fancy-feeling makeup for a gal on the go....

You can get it at Sephora in the Pru. Actually here's another fun one:

Actually I'm going to promote the idea of Sephora to anyone who wants to give a gift certificate to their chic (or especially, deserving-of-being of chic) Mom.
It is such a girly indulgence to shop there. The stuff is expensive but it's such a pleasure.
Online, in cities and at a few fancy suburban malls....

Give her a 25$ gift card to here favorite store. Does she read? Enjoy books or music?
With the remaining 7$, buy and individially wrap in small boxes 7 x 1$ Lottery Tickets. For some very strange reason, people seem to get excited to open and 'play' the lottery tickets.
Not very personal, but if she wins a large sum of money, she can buy you a basement home studio and some lessons from a vocal coach. It may be exactly what you need to launch your career, and there is nothing a real mother wants more than to be able to help her kids find true happiness. Seems to me that you have a real passion for music, writing, and singing.
Or consider the gift that keeps giving all year long...the "Jelly of the Month" Club. Even though Clark Griswald wasn't too thrilled to receive it, I am sure that Cousin Eddie would be thrilled with her cast-offs.
Merry Christmas, WHAR. Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Stay focused.

Hmmm.... I'm gonna put in another plug for a gift certificate rather than all lottery tix... cause there's a good chance she'll end up with 2 more free lottery tickets and that's it. Or nothing!
Yesterday I bought some gorgeous sky-blue leather gloves lined with cashmere for $20. Get thee to TJ Maxx, my friend....

Wehit, what did you finally decide on? You know, us moms don't really care what you kids get us, so long as you just tell us you love us on Christmas day.
