There are actually two.DrJ wrote:Or the Black Dyke Mills band...
Which Beck song samples which Van Morrison song?
Note that there are two occasions (that I know of) where Beck has sampled VtheM. I will accept either.

"Devil's Haircut" borrows from "I Can Only Give You Everything"
the sample Beck uses is actually for "Jackass"... Them's version of "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue"
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Well done BC, them be the samples I was thinking of.
It's worth noting that I Can Only Give You Everything was originally performed by Van but written by Phil Coulter, an Irish music business veteran and (co-) writer of Cliff Richards' Congratulations, Sandie Shaw's Puppet on A String, Elvis Presley's My Boy and the Bay City Rollers big hits. Legend!
Fire away, BC.

Another theory is that in a bit of drunken messing about Paul bashed Stu's head against a wall. Obviously, considering the circumstances, recollections are a bit fuzzy. Either way the poor lad died of a haemorrhage. A small payback way down the road was the inclusion of a tune that was co-composed by Stu on Anthology 1, so his family finally started earning some royalties.

Good guessing Oily, but wrong.
A point to cosmos.
It's unclear whether any particular event brought on the haemorrhage (some also say a kick in the head by thugs who ambushed them after a Silver Beatles gig in Liverpool... Lennon actually came to Sutcliffe's assistance, and others that it was the constant use of amphetamines) but what is clear is that it was a haemorrhage. If you haven't yet seen the 1994 movie Backbeat, do yourself a favour. It chronicles the early Beatles years when they developed their style, went to Hamburg, etc. It's a good drama piece. The actor who plays Lennon is particularly good... he's really the central character.
