I've read Careless Love and can't remember the answer. However it's Monday, 7pm and the George Harrison Simpsons is on Sky One now...

I'm sure Hank Snow, the pride of Nova Scotia, is right. Great feature on the Colonel early career in the current issue of No Depression

Hank Snow is not the correct answer.
A couple of hints....
1. Parker's first significant charge was a major recording artist in the 1920's.
2. His signature song was also the title of a 1990 comedy that featured Joan Cusack in a memorable supporting role.
By the by, that was an amazing article and I lifted my question directly from its pages.

My Blue Heaven? I don't know who sung that. Hank Williams? Cliff Richard? Gary Barlow?

It can't be Big Joe Turner, because Corina Corina was made in 1994.

Big Joe Turner is not where it's at.....to Dave Alvin's eternal dismay. My Blue Heaven IS the correct answer to our mystery artist's most famous song, however.

Loretta Lynn, new LP with a 5 star rating in Mojo or somewhere I was browsing. Can't remember if she's in the El Vez pantheon. Is she something else?
Hey, I know the answer too. For some reason I looked it up on Google. It's a real drag when the same question lasts for 24 hours...

Someone step forward before Oily pops a blood vessel. I like him a lot so I'd hate to see that happen.

It's Gene Austin, which I got from the No Depression article, after being reminded by El Vez. So no point for me. Lets move this on. Another question please, El Vez.

Well I went and looked at my copy but the name didn't seem like any teen idol I knew.
Ho hum.
