And, just tonight as I was packing up my CDs, I noticed a copy of Camper van Beethoven's "Key Lime Pie" -- an album I think I listened to just once that for me didn't compare at all with the sublime "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart", which I think Herring also produced. Further inspection revealed backing vocals by Davey Faraghar and Danny (his brother, I assume) Faraghar.

It's all starting to come together. "Costello van Beethoven"?

Throwing Muses were a great band. I like his production on their stuff a lot. Bodes well, methinks.

Hey guys - how do you know this is his new producer? Has there been a release about a new album?

From the `Elvis - new recordings thread -

`The performances bookend sessions for Costello's new album, scheduled to take place at Sweet Tea Recording in Oxford with studio owner Dennis Herring, who has produced records by Counting Crows and former Memphian Garrison Starr, among others.`

An open plea to Bobster:

Pleae give Key Lime Pie another chance! While I agree that Our Beloved....is in a class by itself, there are several fantastic songs on Key Lime Pie. Listen to Sweethearts and remember that it was written and recorded well before we knew about the Alzheimer's and Reagan. The lyrics to When I Win the Lottery and All Her Favorite Fruit are amongst my favorites by any artist. There's straight up rock, skippy ska, dreamy pop and scathing indictiments- a great album.
