I bought a Randy Newman piano book

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Now I can learn some awesome songs on piano!

It's got 36 songs in it!

Baltimore
Bleeding All Over The Place
Burn On
Cowboy
Davy The Fat Boy
Dixie Flyer
Feels Like Home
Gainesville
God's Song
Guilty
I Love L.A.
I Love to See You Smile
I Think It's Going To Rain Today
I Want You To Hurt Like I Do
In Germany Before The War
It's Money That I Love
Living Without You
Lonely At The Top
Louisiana 1927
Mama Told Me Not To Come
Marie
Miami
Old Man
One More Hour
Political Science
Real Emotional Girl
Rednecks
Sail Away
Same Girl
Sandman's Coming
Short People
Simon Smith And The Amazing Dancing Bear
Song For The Dead
You Can Leave Your Hat On
You've Got A Friend In Me

I was hoping for Birmingham, but most of the songs I wanted are in this book. Unfortunately, some are beyond my skill-level, but some are pretty doable!

I loved it at the show last night when Elvis was doing the intro to Real Emotional Girl and he described Randy Newman as one of the "great American composers." :)

In that case, you're lucky to have seen one of the great British composers cover one of the great American composers.

I have Elvis to thank for turning me onto Randy.

I have always liked Randy Newman but the funny thing is when I think of Randy Newman I always remember 4th grade and the song Short People.

I saw Randy Newman last Saturday (brag, brag) and once again he was great. I think out of all the great work he's done, people tend to forget that he co-wrote the Three Amigos movie. What a guy.

Did anyone see the Randy Newman spoof on Family Guy?

...opinions please... I thought it was funny.

That's one of my favourite Family Guy moments. Classic.

I really hope I can see Randy live some day. After researching a bit, it seems he hasn't played in Toronto since 1983!

Diana Krall, on the other hand.. is doing four shows here at the end of May/beginning of June. Will I be at any of them? No. Will Elvis? I guess we'll have to see.

I just discovered that Randy has been keeping a journal on his European tour.

Check it out:
