I was kind of hoping he'd hook up with someone like Lucinda Williams :)

The rumors were running about like mad..last year...Myself..I would have picked Anne Sofie Von Otter..

That would have been different..

Of course...if I were being brutally honest I would have just said..I would have rather he picked me...

Elfslut - just don't say how much you fancy Steve. That could get you in all kinds of trouble on this board!

Isn't Anne-Sofie Mad Otter married to the bloke out of ABBA though, they'd have to duel over her hand in marriage!

Is she? Hmmm Benny or Bjorn? That would be a funny duel..unless it was a duel of wits....then EC would win hands down for being so snarky....

When I looked for that on the net, I found that she is married to some stage director or something. Has a couple of kids with him.

No mention of ABBA.

Oh my mistake then, sorry ladies!

But I will always firmly (if mistakenly) believe, that Anne Sofie Mad Otter is happily betrothed to the brown-bearded Swede of ABBA fame!

Oh, it actually sounded good to me, Crow. But she's way too blah to be married to an ABBA guy. :o

I don't know that she's blah..but her voice sure is...That was one CD that I still don't listen to much...and I like Classical sounding vocalists too...I'd rather stick with people like Annie Haslam and Sarah Brightman myself...

I figure this is as good of a place as any....

I like Diana Krall. Love her voice and her feeling in the music. Didn't know she existed until they got engaged. I got a couple of her cd's after listening to them at a friend's house....I was planning on saying that I hated her music just for the gee whizes of it, but I liked it...

She's very talented, there, I said it....

Then there is the quote that now he is happier and she is angrier, so can't wait to see what she has been up to....

Ok, now I'm the black sheep, but I don't care...

I do believe the "other" woman that EC was seen out and about with right before Diana was a French singer named Particia Kaas- I think thats how you spell it anyway. There was the famous "rumor" that they were seen making out in an elevator at her label's building. That one even made the NYC papers. I remember reading it on the "old" board as well.

Well...we all know..EC has a fondness for the ladies...(even when he's married)

Ah well..nothing that we can do about it...

And well...DK's voice is an acquired taste...one that will never sit right on this girl's palate

She's won grammies..so I guess that means she's good..but then again..hasn't Celine Dion?

Would love to know what really happened with Cait....

No I don't....

Agreed Elfslut...I think ASVO's voice isn't that hot as well...even though EC said he thought it was great. What does he know!?

The reason I thought she was shacked-up with ABBA man maybe, was that he's on the inner-sleeve of For the stars. I don't listen to that one much though, some good songs like the title track, but what makes me not wanna listen is ASVO butchering Baby plays around.

ASVO is an opera singer. She made the mistake of recording an album of pop songs, which is interesting in concept, but obviously her voice is too operatic for The Beach Boys and Tom Waits.

For me is was ASVO butching This House is Empty Now...The only track I liked was the one they did live in NYC and Stockholm

Baby It's Cold Outside..and even that grates on my nerves after awhile.

Yeah, fair play Blue! I haven't heard her singing any kind of operatic works...so Im probably being unfair.

Sorry Anne Sophie Von

There were some good moments on that record though..I just didn't like the versions of his songs that she did..

Some operatic voices can cross over into pop..

Look at Sarah Brightman....

Now there would be a combination for an EC album

I'm trying to picture that and not laugh...

I don't know..I prefer her voice to ASVO...and well DK (who's voice makes my ears bleed)

And you know that album is going to happen soon...

I remember when he said that having two people in the same business in the family was a bad thing...

There are some more theatrical voices that have crossed over...Brightman though..has had more success then most...

the title track from her latest cd..topped the dance charts...

(I lost my heart to a) starship trooper/Sarah Brightman and Hot Gossip 1979 Ariola America, Inc./PRO 7738 (Calvert/Hughes)

Sorry - but I just have to inflict this lyric on you -

Sarah Brightman - I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Speaker 1:
Arcaida
X-ray X-ray delta niner niner zero
This is Starfleet Control
You are clear to go hyper space
Acknowledge

Speaker 2:
Affirmative, Star Comm
We have situation gold

Speaker 1:
Niner niner zero, roger
You're looking good for trans-light

Sarah singing:
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Oh...

Hey, Captain Strange, won't you be my lover
You're the best thing that I've ever discovered
Flash Gordon's left me, he's gone to the stars
An evil Darth Vader has me banished to Mars

Tell me, Captain Strange, do you feel my devotion
Or are you like a droid, devoid of emotion
Encounters one and two are not enough for me
What my body needs is close encounter three

I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space

Listen, Captain Strange, what's our destination
The scanners seem to indicate a small deviation
Static on the comm - it's Starfleet Command
Requesting your position, it's their final demand

You're intentions are known, they've found out at last
So if you're gonna take me, please make it fast
Touch me, feel me, do what you will
I want to feel that galatic thrill

I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space

Speaker 1:
Niner niner zero
This is Star Comm
We got a problem
On your vector
Request status check
Over

Sarah singing:
Oh, baby...

Speaker 3:
Arcadia
This is Strategy Control
You have course devation
At five mark six
Acknowledge

Sarah singing:
I love you...

Speaker 1:
Arcaida
We show condition red
Confirm

Sarah singing:
Love me...

Speaker 3:
What's going on out there

Sarah singing:
Oh...
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Oh...

Space suit is lying on control room floor
Pulse rate increasing as the heat factor soars
Take me, make me feel the force
Ignore the computers, we're locked on course

I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space

I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space

Speaker 1, while Sarah sings
the previous lines repeatedly:
Niner niner zero
This is Star Comm
Be advised
You have serious vector deviation
I repeat: serious vector deviation

Arcadia
Niner niner zero
Do you copy

This is Starfleet Control
To all ships in sector five
Be advided
Arcadia
Niner niner zero
Is off course
All ships squawk ident

Starship Arcadia
This is Starfleet Control
Squawk ident
I repeat: squawk ident

Have it on Mp3 actually...

Hilarious song too...

Too think that was before she was cast in the UK version of Cats (in the chorus)

Jemima was her role I believe..

Then Andrew Lloyd Webber took and interest in her voice (and other things)

And a Star was born..

:D :) :D

It is my belief that if you are under 21 you shouldn't have a career in music...(kinda like drinking..there should be an age limit...)

Apologies to the talented ones I've insulted...but I'm just trying to get rid of the boy bands..and bimbos polluting the airwaves these days...and that would get rid of Ms. Church as well. (who I agree is a bit of an uppity wenchling)

OK..it sounds nice in theory..and I know it wouldn't work...but I like to have a dream...that all the Britney's and Debbie Gibson's..etc etc wouldn't have a chance to torment me..until they were older...

Rant ended..Foot firmly placed in mouth

Some great musicians started before they were 21:

Say what you will about Eric Clapton, but he was great in The Yardbirds and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers before he was 21.

Keith Moon was only 20 when The Who performed at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, which means he was still a teenager when The Who recorded their great early singles

And can you believe Steve Winwood was only 18 when he sang "Gimme Some Lovin'" with the Spencer Davis Group???
