Another amazing performance of the much maligned title song. It's so much better live!
When do we see the entire show? "Spring 2011"?

Agree. To my ears at least the album version sounds muddy. Here you can here all the little subtleties and I like it a lot more.docinwestchester wrote:Another amazing performance of the much maligned title song. It's so much better live!

The studio version sounds awful. A rare fail by T Bone.Who Shot Sam? wrote:Agree. To my ears at least the album version sounds muddy. ...I kind of miss Steve, though. He gives the song a bit of vintage Attractions flava...

Cheers - wonderful- to these cloth ears the songs sound best live.
Loved the guys filling in behind the whistling on Josephine.
Also the Library looked amazing too!

I noticed that too. Very quirky little fiddle and accordion fill-ins there. The more I listen, the more I appreciate the high level of musicianship in the 'Canes which often goes unnoticed or at least unappreciated. Coupled with Pete's stellar drumming and of course Steve's genius keyboard noodling, this is indeed a "Supergroup".Top balcony wrote:

Hey guys, looks like that NYPL concert is airing this week. From the shows facebook:
Today kicks off ELVIS COSTELLO WEEK at the Artists Den! Every day this week we’ll be sharing goodies from Elvis’s episode of “Live from the Artists Den” – premiering on public television this Friday! Be sure to check back every day for exclusive content and free downloads.

I wonder what songs they're going to put on the episode. The set list they put up seems longer than they can probably fit in an episode??

Wardo posted it earlier in the thread:
"Bullets For The New-Born King (solo, the rest with Sugarcanes)
I Lost You
Blame It On Cain (!!!)
Dr. Watson, I Presume
Poor Borrowed Dress
A Condemned Man
One Bell Ringing
A Slow Drag With Josephine
Jimmie Standing In The Rain
The Spell That You Cast
That's Not The Part Of Him You're Leaving
National Ransom
(most likely the official end of the show, but they stayed on stage for the first "encore")
Stations Of The Cross
Sulfur To Sugarcane
(2nd encore)
Leave My Kitten Alone
All These Strangers"
I really hope they have Blame It On Cain and Poor Borrowed Dress :

Whoops! Thanks. I assumed you were referring to something on the page. Hopefully we get most of it, or they put out anything they don't air online.

Doc, is it in HD? If so, please consider putting it all on dime. My PBS station isn't even showing it till the 10th, and it's standard def. So far. Hoping one of my other PBS stations runs it properly.
