I got the box set with the vinyl, CDs/DVD and booklet. So carefree and so much fun.

I copied a bunch of stuff from my work computer to my mp3 player yesterday. I didn't know they were mp4s, which will play, but the player doesn't read the information, so all the stuff got put into one big Unknown album. It's AWESOME. RHCP, Ian Dury, Bright Eyes, Rancid, Jack Johnson, Tom Waits and others. last 3 songs: I'm Partial to Your Abracadabra, Good People, Jockey Full of Bourbon.
Like me, the "g" is silent.

Oh my God what a fantastic record. One of the greatest folk albums I've ever heard. "Little Bit of Rain" - what an absolutely gorgeous song. Breathtaking version of "The Water is Wide", and all kinds of other treasures as well. If I had to compare Neil's voice to a contemporary singer it would probably be Richard Hawley - he has that same kind of deep resonance.

WSS- that is a tremendous album-such a rich baritone voice-my favorite is "Other Side to This Life"- wish I had a current copy of the record-had forgotten that he did a duet once with Gram Parsons.

Yes, that's a great song. The copy I have is a vinyl reissue by Sundazed, which you can probably find if you look around a bit.Christopher Sjoholm wrote:WSS- that is a tremendous album-such a rich baritone voice-my favorite is "Other Side to This Life"- wish I had a current copy of the record-had forgotten that he did a duet once with Gram Parsons.

The Flaming Lips album had photos inside the inner cover. Never seen that before:
I don't understand why people still buy cd's when the vinyl editions are as cool as this. The Flaming Lips also included a cd (nice to have in the car).

I was talking with my wife at the Bob Mould gig on Saturday about how badly they need to remaster the old Hüsker Dü albums, which sound muddy as hell on the old SST CDs and vinyl pressings. Was glad to hear Bob do some older material, including "Hardly Getting Over It," which is one of my faves from any artist.

My friend Blair just released a new album, 'Die Young'. If you dig Feist, Phair, etc. you might like her too. Check it out at iTunes, etc. Favorite track: 'Hello Halo'.

From their Facebook page:so lacklustre wrote:Yes, all thing Coral seem to be quiet. Their website hasn't been updated for over a year.
Leckie has produced a load of great albums, including XTC's first two and the Dukes of Stratosphear albums, among others, so that's encouraging.Hello all. Just returned from RAK studios in London with producer John Leckie and completed 7 tracks for the new album. Titles include 'Rovin Jewel', 'Green Is The Colour', 'Sandhills' and 'Butterfly House' among others. The sessions went really well and we're due to go back in and record again soon. Sounds amazing..........stay tuned!!!!

The problem is that Bob wants to run the remastering project and Grant and Greg have a tough time dealing with Bob and Bob has a tough time dealing with Grant and Greg and Grant wrote half the songs too........not holding my breath.....and yes the quality of the original stuff is "muddy as hell".Who Shot Sam? wrote: I was talking with my wife at the Bob Mould gig on Saturday about how badly they need to remaster the old Hüsker Dü albums, which sound muddy as hell on the old SST CDs and vinyl pressings. Yeah not holding my breath. Listened to my old vinyl of Flip Your Wig the other day and my god does it suck. It's a shame. At least the WB albums have been treated better.Boy With A Problem wrote:The problem is that Bob wants to run the remastering project and Grant and Greg have a tough time dealing with Bob and Bob has a tough time dealing with Grant and Greg and Grant wrote half the songs too........not holding my breath.....and yes the quality of the original stuff is "muddy as hell".Who Shot Sam? wrote: I was talking with my wife at the Bob Mould gig on Saturday about how badly they need to remaster the old Hüsker Dü albums, which sound muddy as hell on the old SST CDs and vinyl pressings. Been listening to a free download of Josh Rouse's ' I will Live on Islands' from the upcoming album El Turista.
Really like it - very similar to early Paul Simon.

I'd forgotten what a cracking album this was. I was doing a little bit of shopping on Saturday at Best Buy and the vinyl reissue was calling my name.

WSS-you are dead on right "Tim" is one of my top five albums from the 80s. "Here Comes a Regular" is my favorite on the whole album and "Kiss Me on the Bus" is pure fun. I like the extra version of "Can't Hardly Wait" electric that is on the remastered CD.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
First time I've listened to this in a while. IMO it is an album that suffers from the inclusion of pointless remakes and a couple of weak songs. It would have been a much stronger single album if it had just included:
Down Among the Wine and Spirits
I Felt the Chill
My All Time Doll
How Deep is the Red?
Sulphur to Sugarcane
Red Cotton
The Crooked Line
Changing Partners
