The main doubts I have are:
A) Is it a cover? (not an unreleased original)
B) Was it actually performed by EC? (or Quoted)
C) Who recorded the original, or most famous version?
The EC Wiki has a tons of information, but there are gaps which you fellow fans can help me with. Besides It's about time this collection was updated and there are some fantastic tunes there.
The list is too long to paste here, but as a sample- Vol 1 could be mischievously titled "Knocking on Nick Lowe's Door" As EC reportedly chased N Lowe around the country looking for a deal. The Disc begins with the Dylan epic covered by Flip City, and leads up to performances from around 1977.
Eg.
1 Knocking on Heaven's Door (Dylan)
2 Third Rate Romance (Jesse Winchester)
3 I'm Packing Up ???? (Chris Kenner) Does any other recording exist?
4 Secret Lemonade Drinker??? Does any other recording exist?
5 I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself (Tommy Hunt + more)
6 Sex And Drugs And Rock 'N' Roll (Ian Dury & The Blockheads)
7 Heart of the City (Nick Lowe)
8 Nutted By Reality (Nick Lowe)
9 Love Comes In Spurts (richard hell and the voidoids)
10 Makin' Music For Money (Jimmy Buffett) Did EC really perform this?
11 The Price Of Love (Everly Brothers)
12 Shake And Pop (Rockpile)
13 (I Love The Sound Of) Breaking Glass (Rockpile?)
14 Whole Wide World (Wreckless Eric)
15 Neat, Neat, Neat (The Damned)
16 The Roadette Song (Ian Dury)
17 You Gotta Lose (richard hell) MISSING THIS TRACK. HELP PLEASE!
You Win Again (Hank Williams + More) Could be included here as it was performed pre 1977 and I'm Sure there's more Flip City Covers to be added to fill the disc out before moving on to Vol 2 + 1979 and What's So Funny (Brinsley Schwarz) etc...
Any Help or suggestions for this project will be much appreciated.
