Anti-Spam Verification Question
Hi All,
We have been deluged with yet another round of spam account registration attempts. In an attempt to cut down on bots attempting to register accounts, I have added an anti-spam feature where you have to answer a question which only a human should be able to answer.
I am sorry for the minor inconvenience this will cause legitimate users but it must be done.
If you need a hint for the questions, try this: "The Man" is Elvis Costello.

Thanks, Doc. I must admit, though, I wavered between Costello and MacManus for a minute.

Re: Anti-Spam Verification Question
I thought about a question with Declan MacManus as the answer but this isn't supposed to be a challenge. Just enough to stop bots.StrictTime wrote:Thanks, Doc. I must admit, though, I wavered between Costello and MacManus for a minute.
Other potential questions were:
- What's your favorite color? Red, blue, no ahhhhh
- What is the meaning of life? 42
- Why do fools fall in love?

Re: Anti-Spam Verification Question
I was going to type in "Declan" then thought I was being too clever about it.

Re: Anti-Spam Verification Question
You can't believe how many people have tried Declan or MacManus and then emailed complaining they couldn't answer the question. So now Elvis or Declan are an accepted as the first name and Costello or MacManus are accepted last names.Who Shot Sam? wrote:I was going to type in "Declan" then thought I was being too clever about it.
If EC has other aliases or is "Doing Business As" another party, then let me know so I can add that as a valid answer. You folks are too smart for your own good. LOL!

Re: Anti-Spam Verification Question
What's up with the verification questions? it's a bit hyper-sensitive isn't it? I have to answer it almost everytime I click on a new topic! Get's a bit laborious after 5 or 6 times...
