Who is this person and how have I not noticed her music until now? After hearing the name repeatedly, I checked out "Rehab" and a few other songs to see what the fuss is all about. Very ballsy 60s-influenced soul... I was very surprised and am very impressed so far. How's the rest of the album?

She's really good. I haven't heard the whole record, but I've seen her on tv a few times - great voice. However she's a complete drama queen and her schtick is really offputting - on the way to becoming the female Pete Dougherty.

"Rehab" doesn't impress me. Nothing special.

Back to Black is a very good album, pretty much the same tempo and style all the way through, my album of the year so far (although it may have come out last year). I love her mid-atlantic blues/soul voice. I also have her first album, Frank, which is more jazz influenced but still worth having.

Yeah. last year. Agree it's very good, many strong songs, very well executed, a good listen. Recommended. Rehab is a classic, funny and exciting.

I'm just reading now that many of the musicians who make up The Dap Kings (Sharon Jones' backing band) appear on Back To Black. I definitely think I will be picking this record up soon.

I was listening to he album two days ago. I loved Rehab but I think my favorite song is Me and Mr. Jones. How can one not enjoy saying "What kind of F**kery is this?" I was suprised she wrote most of the songs and even though they don't have much range her voice is what really makes the album enjoyable.

Unfortunately, she seems to have the same "health" problems as Pete.

I really hope she sorts herself out. Doesn't look good at all.

I really hope she SHOOTS herself. Really, I do.

Tell me, are we really supposed to believe this bad-girl "rehab" thing or is it just clever marketing? No, no, no!

I don't wish ill on her. The only ones they seem to be hurting are themselves and their friends/families. But it's depressing to see someone with so much talent become such a sad junkie.

Not true. If she were more private about her drug use, okay, maybe, snort away in secret for all I care. But christ, its her schtick as someone else said. She's marketing it, singing about it, doing it. It gives her that curious edginess that her talent and good looks can't muster on its own. Shes a walking, breathing, billboard promoting cocaine and heroin. I'd like to see her OD in a very gruesome and public way to be perfectly frank.

Don't know about any of that, but I do know that is eye liner with staying power.

p.s. I took (before it was fashionable, thank you very much) 2 forensic anthropology classes in my checkered college career. I am proud to say that I looked at his face and said, no, not fingernails. which is USEFUL information, dammit. :P

I can't quite get a handle on it, but those pictures disturb me a lot. More to do with me than them, of course.

Reading London's free dailies, you'd think there's no more important news in the world than Ms. Winehouse's pub antics from the previous evening. Every day it's Amy this, and Amy that on the front page, with the occasional Lilly sprinkled in. There could be a second coming and we wouldn't know about it, but we would know if Amy's in or out of rehab.

Well with all that nonsense going on (and fortunately I'm not subjected to that crap nor whatever the scummy red-tops are writing about her, no doubt wanting to make her the sensational junkie of the year now that Doherty has become boring), not to mention the idiocy posted by Emotional Toothpaste above, it was lovely and refreshing to see a sober-enough looking Amy perform Love Is A Losing Game beautifully with just solo (and not overly impressive) acoustic guitar at last night's Mercury awards:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5LsdEqSQO4

Probably just as well she didn't win, though (in terms of media nonsense). I was rooting for Bat For Lashes. Great name. Described as 'Brighton's answer to Björk', I've only heard a fleeting moment or two, and it sounded good. The Klaxons over the top response to winning was quite funny.

Thanks for the youtube clip. While I didn't find it very "refreshing" at all, I did get a kick out of seeing that tattoo on her left breast, the one that says "Blake". Awwww.

Jools at the end of the performance was the best part of it all: " . . . and I'm telling you, she has one of the best voices, errr . . . . of anybody, of all time, in the whole wide world . . . "

Such a waste... if she doesn't clean up soon she'll be dead by her 25th birthday.

She is a much troubled person and with deep insecurities.

When she is on form she has a truly magnificent voice. But perhaps she should seriously consider postponing this tour.
