oops no torrents

Hi Gang
I wonder if you can advise me on a tech issue? Our computer died last week and now we've got a resuscitated one, newly formated hard drive with needlessly updated Windows etc. However it lacks all the stuff I put on it over the years to slow it down. Hence I'll be buying again Nero etc.
But I'm struggling with file sharing. I used to use UTorrent . But it has been re-formatted out of existence.So I'm on the look out for a suitable safe alternative. What programme do you use ? And have you had any problems with it?
