The Stones - O2 and NJ

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

The Stones - O2 and NJ

Post by Jeremy Dylan »

Anyone going? I'm going to be in the US around that time, so I'm considering it, but my wallet has crawled up into a ball in the corner and is crying itself to sleep.

I've never like the Stones and at £104 - £450 for a ticket plus £31 booking fee, I think I will give them a miss on this occasion.

Well, if you've never liked them, the ticket price is kind of irrelevant.

Way out of my league. I've always wanted to see them, but at these prices I will pass.

The prices are an offensive joke. I would strongly advocate boycotting.

What a boycott would really mean in this case is 'People who can't afford the tickets don't buy them'. That's why I didn't go see the Eagles last time they came through Australia. I didn't have the cash. I didn't really consider it a boycott.

Would I have liked the ticket prices to be lower? Of course, then I could've afforded to go. But they've perfectly within their rights to charge whatever the hell they want and as long as they have fans willing to pay those prices, it's a perfectly sound business practice.

I may or may not be one of them in this case, but I'm not going to cry bloody murder if I can't afford to go.

Sound business practice my arse. Like they need the money. It would be beautiful if people stayed away in their thousands.

If I'm honest, I could afford the lowest two price tiers - but, out of principle, would not pay that kind of money for a concert. It's extortion. I'd love to have gone to the O2, but it's an elitist event for the rich. By pricing tickets this way, normal working class people have been told that they're not important. Still, what can you expect from a bunch of out of touch millionaires?

Fuck 'em.

That sounds so jaded on your tongue"

It just makes it all the more obscene. At their stage in the game, wouldn't it be commendable to see them saying 'let's give as many of our fans a chance to see us as possible' with a fair pricing policy. The fact that they can do this and exploit people foolish enough to pay prices beyond any sense doesn't justify it in any way.

Agree with you 100%, HYHN.
