Elvis and the Imposters with Charlie Sexton, Wellmont Theatre, Montclair, - 26 February 2023

Elvis and The Imposters with Charlie Sexton play the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey on Sunday February 26, 2023.

They previously played two shows there in 2011 on the Revolver tour. Since then Richard Thompson has moved to live in Montclair. Elvis joined an online event as part of the Montclair Festival last year, where he interviewed Thompson about his memoir "Beeswing: Losing My Way and Finding My Voice 1967-1975".

Unless he is touring in February, there seems a good chance that Thompson will join Elvis onstage at the Wellmont and a crowd-pleaser such as "End of The Rainbow" may be played.

The Wellmont Theatre website has tickets for sale, but suggests that the number remaining is low.

Who's going?

I’ll be there.

Don’t think they’ll invite me up on stage like last time but you never know…

Hahaha...I was going to notate the claim to fame for BASIE with an asterisk if I misremembered where you were selected in 2011!! The one thing I did clearly recall was me in Yonkers while you were dancing in the society lounge. If you do plan on revisiting your stage presence this go round at the Wellmont....please be sure to guest list your favorite ba ever!  HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and M, L and J too!! XO

Just reading this today J....is it really gonna be number one show for the dynamic duo??? Impressive. If I do A.C. Saturday it would be doubtful about Montclair. But all these things can be subject to change. I get a feeling I will see you on 23rd Street before this one either way. Happy 23 to you all. ba

Very fun show with a very appreciative crowd. Highlights for me were When I Was Cruel No.2, the Comedians, Lydon Johnson. Elvis was in a talkative mood. That actor I mentioned in my earlier post actually came out to sing the last verse of A Face in the Crowd and he absolutely nailed it. Hetty O'Hara was one of my least favorite tracks on Clockface but it works so well with this arrangement and (as others have mentioned) really gives Charlie a chance to shine.

Nice recap JP... I'll Google the actor. I am not a movie fan. Funny. Did you have any idea he sang too???

Nice to see much better and longer setlist for a non-casino show. Now looking forward to Port Chester.

Wish they wold stop playing Green Shirt live though. Good song but I don't love it live.

Another thing about last night I'll add: EC's vocal delivery was very strong. That was very reassuring considering there was a show the prior night. As we all know, EC has particular problems with his lower register. Those problems were kept to a minimum last night (although that might have had something to do with his use of the "distortion" mic for certain songs, which probably does a better job masking pitch and key issues).

Another fun night, and happy to see some extra songs added after the shorter casino shows. The Boy Named If and Other Favourites leaned heavily on the Other Favourites of the title.

After the Gramercy run, it's hard to be surprised by any particular song showing up, but I wasn't expecting The Comedians or When I Was Cruel. And Shot With His Own Gun was a nice swerve from the piano version of Accidents Will Happen.

While many of us were hoping that the son of Montclair that Elvis was introducing on A Face in the Crowd was going to be Richard Thompson, Patrick Wilson did a great job in the spotlight. BA, if you have Hulu, check out the second season of Fargo. He's really good in it--and the whole season is one of my favorites of any TV show.

So happy I was able to catch a couple of shows on this leg of the tour, especially as I wasn't able to make it to either the Gramercy shows or the Just Trust tour. Bring on the Goodbye Cruel World and Other Planets tour!

Thanks Elvis, Steve, Pete, Davey, and Charlie for a great night. Looking forward to reports from the rest of this run.

Agreed. User Eric Mischel on the wiki facebook group posted a great video in his "photo dump" post from last night. Since it's a private facebook group, I'm not sure if this link will work: https://www.facebook.com/534027392/vide ... 8773129891
