This is a brand new venue, so it's hard to say when you need to get there to get a good position.

So I checked out the Brooklyn Bowl today during lunch. Unfortunately, until March 17, it does not open until 6 p.m., so I did not get to go inside. However, the area its in is a new development called The Linq. It's not bad. The main attraction is the world's largest ferris wheel. But there are also a number of restaurants right next to the Brooklyn Bowl, including a Yard House (with 180+ beers on tap) and a Giardelli (sp) chocolate and ice cream shop.

A quick tip. The Flamingo hotel might look like it is the closest place to part. But its kind of a haul from the parking garage to the Linq. Park at the Linq parking lot instead. It's located on . . . Linq St., which is perpendicular to Flamingo, just east of the Las Vegas strip. This area gets really busy on weekends, so you will want to be parked already well before the show.

ETA: Parking at the Quad hotel is better than parking at the Flamingo regarding distance to the venue. Also, its easier to get to the Linq parking lot if you take the Koval entrance (Koval is parallel to LV Bld. and directly east).

Ha! I'd be stumbling in if I did that. That might be kind of fun, though.

Thanks SFH! I'm staying at the Flamingo! Easy stumbling distance from the venue, I think?

It's hard to tell for sure if either the Saturday or Sunday show is sold out yet. On Ticketfly, it seems like you can still purchase tickets for both shows. However, it also seems like you can still purchase tickets for the Roots only show scheduled for March 14, but I know that show is already sold out. I will call the venue and check for sure. If the show is not already sold out, you want to go, and you have not already bought tickets, I would recommend getting tickets at the Vegas Brooklyn Bowl box office rather than on Ticketfly, if possible. Ticketfly has a $20 charge for using that service that the box office does not charge.

Man, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THESE SHOWS!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! (please dear God, let there be a decent taper in the audience)

ETA: I stopped by the Brooklyn Bowl box office during lunch. They said there are plenty of tickets left for both nights. WTF?

Tiny article in the Las Vegas local paper today:
http://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainm ... oklyn-bowl

This show is being poorly promoted here. Its a shame. You'd expect more given that this is opening of a new venue in a new entertainment area.

The local free paper calls the venue a "a music lover's paradise"

really doc? i missed it. maybe i was so happy to grab brotherapostles VINYL copy for his birthday next month for a mere $20 ($5 less than Atlantic City last week!) that i did not notice. was it at the table on the right before entering the theater proper? i did not see one hanging. that's okay....i would have preferred a postcard of that one anyway. how many 54 year olds hang posters?

Yes. There is a table on the left side of the lobby, adjacent to the ticket window, where they sell the general Capitol Theatre merchandise.

I don't like it, actually. It's kind of creepy looking.

oh yes....VERY creepy. exactly why a postcard (FREEBIE preferably) would have sufficed. however, very cool the NY/VEGAS connection. NOT so the EC/Quest conglomerate!

Questlove posted what he calls a "soundcheck setlist":

The only "new" song is "Black and White World" (which EC and the Roots played on Fallon in 2010).

I was just blown away. Come the Meantimes. I Want You (particularly Cpt. Kirk's solo). Wise Up Ghost. Black and White World. Just outstanding. Front row, right in front of ?uestlove. Too blown away to make comments with more substance, but I will field questions.

What was Black Thought's contribution? Was it a rap on "Cinco Minutos Con Vos" like on the Wise Up: Thought EP?

Did the setlist differ any from the version posted by Questlove before the show?

It was indeed the Wise Up Thought version. He also performed during Ghost Town. While I was not a fan of the Wise Up Thought version of Cinco, it was great live.

The setlist was identical to what was posted.

Looks like he got the old Jazzmaster back. It was conspicuously missing in Port Chester.

Interesting photo from the side of the stage:

The paper in front of the laptop reads:

DR. WATSON, I PRESUME
A SLOW DRAG WITH JOSEPHINE
JIMMIE STANDING IN THE RAIN
CINCO/OLIVER'S ARMY
ALISON/RED SHOES
SUGAR WON'T WORK
