The terms 'tempests in teapots' and 'mountains of molehills' are starting to come to mind. I know we've debated sensitivity and political correctness here before, and I tend to fall on the side of sensitivity and political correctness. Having said that, I don't think anyone could (or should) judge m...

And for you wiseacres and your Barbershop Quarter jokes, I think you have New Orleans confused with someplace else? I've never heard a Barbershop Quartet here. Now if you've got something against clarinets.....steer clear. :)

I'll take my chances in New Orleans before I'd move to Shreveport Oily! In all fairness Blue, New Orleans IS known for its crime rate. When I moved here in 94, the city experienced over 400 murders. In the past ten years, the number has dropped to less than half that, and this year it has risen slig...

Obviously, each person should be judged on their overall conduct, regardless of party affiliation, gender, religion, ethnicity, etc. When Trent Lott says something racially insensitive, it is a continuation of a long line of well-documented statements, and so he is subject to more relative criticism...

Hey Blue, no need to say 'especially in New Orleans' in relation to the idea that you shouldn't chase a mugger. You shouldn't do it anywhere period. Ray has been a local fixture for most of the last year or two here in town. I have seen him out on many occassions and have had the good fortune of hav...

Trust is probably my all time favorite, but there wasn't a bum pick in the lot of them. I bought North for a few relatives for Christmas and consequently listened to it several times over the holidays. It is holding up very well for me.

You're either for the death penalty or against it. I am against it. As soon as you start making value judgements over the level of the atrocities you're on a slippery slope. I could give a shit about Saddam Hussein. I would have been excited had bin Laden been captured. He masterminded the murder of...

I have all the same problems as Danny does with stuff not showing up. I got a message that says those products were no longer available- very strange. And it definitely is not my computer. Weird. A router problem perhaps at the Rhino site?

Hey Noise, although I agree with almost everything you've said in the above posts, I think the reason Gore lost Florida had to do with the huge number of African American voters that were improperly expunged from Florida's rolls. Give those people a voice, and the hanging chads and whatnot make no d...

So I check in on the board after two months......

.....to see if there was any news regarding the tribute CD (to which I contributed) and what do I find? The same old sludge.....Cope talking about sex and Noise getting his panties in a wad about it. Jeez guys. I guess I'll check back in a couple more months.

Au revoir fantastic Elvis Fans

Time for me to move on- I've truly enjoyed getting to 'know' so many of you, thanks especially to Sulky for her wonderful words of comfort and advice. I'll skulk around in the background here and there when something big is going on in EC land but I think I've exhausted my input on the board. Thanks...

I saw an amazing film last night at the New Orleans Film Fetival. Its called 'In America' and is directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot). It seems to be somewhat autobiographical and is just beautifully made and wonderfully acted. Gave me hope.

Actually Noise, I was just reacting with the 'seltzer bottle' to the post above mine. Its just that, like your original post, the 'humor' was lost in translation. See y'all.

Cbartal, As I have said before on this board, I don't suppose my opinion to be any more important than anyone else's. However, I do have to take exception with the idea that Bill O'Reilly is pragmatic. O'Reilly is a liar, a sham, and NOT a journalist (at least not one with any intergrity). I don't c...

Paul's Flowers in the Dirt album has four EC/PM collaborations: That Day is Done, You Want Her Too, My Brave Face, and Don't Be Careless Love. Elvis sings on You Want Her Too in a duet. Of course Spike has Veronica and Pads Paws and Claws.

Wow, you can be pretentious Noise! ("This isn't up for debate".....why are we here then?) So, veering off from Professor Noise's picks: 1. The Kinks 2. The Kinks 3. The Kinks 4. Shocking Blue (not British, but still better than most of the British Invasion) 5. The Zombies As you can see, t...

Gotta disagree with you Moody- coleslaw on a Memphis style BBQ sandwich is essential. Just ask 'em at Rendezvous, Corky's or Tops. I also agree that the best Po Boys in my adopted hometown are made at little hole in the wall greasy spoon type joints- stay away from 'em at Emeril's and all the fancy ...
