Elvis was interesting and more tolerant of the fools around him than you might expect. Steve Wright himself was nauseating and I'm glad I don't listen to him more often. He was so fawning over the former wife of the Duke of York that I wanted to barf. He laughed at her non-jokes and even commented t...

Blue Chair The version of this on Blood and Chocolate is great, but then Elvis tantalised us by saying that a version had been recorded during the King of America sessions that would have been an American No 1 if they would only release it. Perhaps that was being a bit optimistic, but it did eventu...

Having had the pleasure of listening to North for a couple of weeks, you're in for a treat if it's new to you on the day of release.

I envy you that first listen in the way that I envy people who haven't heard, say, Get Happy or been to see Galaxy Quest at the movies!

Wait a minute. Thoughts on King Horse... Just a brilliant record with The Attractions at their peak. I love the drum sound and Pete's variation on the assorted cymbals etc that he hits during the song. (Sorry to get so technical!) And fantastic in live performance, particularly when coupled with Bac...

I saw Elvis during his 1989 solo tour at Glasgow Pavilion, when he was supported by Nick Lowe. This was the night that Liverpool had to avoid defeat to Arsenal at Anfield to win the League. Normally these games are on satellite subscription-only TV, but in those days it was on regular BBC1. As a Liv...

I can just remember this as I had the show on cassette before the vinyl album appeared.

He did 4 or 5 numbers with the Attractions, just don't ask me what they were!

I've listened to it a few times now and must say that it is extremely downbeat. I'm growing to love it, but I think the uncommitted Elvis fan will find it hard going. There are some absolute classic songs in there that will last much longer than some of the offerings from, say, When I Was Cruel. I t...

Thanks for reminding me - I got a pal to pick it up in the US because it was never released in the UK. It's a superb album, just packed with great songs and brilliant performances. My favourite is also "Unwanted Number", which I had never heard before I got the CD. Track it down and buy it...

He definitely played Baby Pictures, accompanied only by Steve Nieve, at the Royal Albert Hall on 26 or 27 December 1982.

Must dig that old cassette out of the attic...

I'm really looking forward to the new album as well. It might sound petty to some, but I've never before heard of an album where the title track was only available on the internet! That and the fact that one of the songs is only on the Japanese release paves the way for a reissue in 6 months time wi...
