Re: London meet up - Saturday 22nd January

Are we still planning to go ahead with this or are we going to be careful with the Covid concerns. I’ve had my booster so I feel safe enough ( even with plague ridden Markinson coming   ) just wondered how everyone else is feeling about meeting up ?

Re: The Boy Named If, new album by Elvis & The Imposters, January 14, 2022

Anybody know what make of guitar that is ? Logo on headstock looks vaguely like the National one but it ain't a resonator :? It appears to me to be a 1940's National OO. National contracted w/ Gibson to produce guitars bearing the National logo for a time. I suspect this is one . Great knowledge ex...

Re: EC & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton - UK Tour, June 2022

The consensus amongst a few of us is how random the allocation of tickets has been . I spread the purchase of my tickets between presale, general availability and the kindness of friends who had privileges with certain theatres and generally the best seats seemed to be available today in the general...

Re: EC & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton - UK Tour, June 2022

I am worried this is going to bankrupt Sulky. Hahaha - I’m not really laughing . However due to some unfortunate circumstances at work, I’m picking up a few extra days ( hopefully) which should cover one gig per day allowing for 2 tickets for Christmas. Having a son based in Manchester and friends ...

Re: Letter from Attorney and Deletion of Posts

I'm new to this site and I just saw this thread - had no idea they were this vigilant! I'm taken aback because I saw his show at Summerstage in Central Park a few years ago when he was revisiting Imperial Bedroom , and I was very nearly at the very front of the audience. (I remember thinking throug...

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

Quiz night on BBC2 had 2 Elvis references last night! Only Connect (the best quiz ever) had Attraction on a wall along with Banshee, Supreme and Shadow - singular backing bands. University Challenge had Stiff releases in a music round - they correctly got Elvis Costello but failed to identify Nick ...

Re: The Boy If - album playback 19th November

I thought the sound system at Ronnie Scott’s wasn’t set up great- we were under a speaker and it distorted the louder, faster songs but the slower Paint The Red Rose Blue sounded glorious. I also thought Davey’s bass in the louder songs was fluid and rhythmic throughout - it might be his best perfor...
