Otis Indeed, great book, there are quite a few Joni references Maladjusted "In a low-cut blouse she brings the beer." "They'll eat a working girl like her alive." From "The Jungle Line". "Last night the plans for our future war was all I saw on channel four" F...

Re: Elvis and The Sugarcanes, Nokia Theatre TX Sept 02 FREE TICK

It was pretty much exactly two hours. I was amazed at the small crowd. REM pulled a much bigger crowd a few months ago and even Flight of the Conchords packed the place (the power of TV I guess.) Its kindof a shame when a comedy band gets a bigger crowd than one of the greatest songwriters in rock n...

Re: The Politics of Politics: The Ride of a Lifetime

Did I mention "skip a step"??? How many steps did we skip before we did ANYTHING in IRAQ Lets see - you skipped the step where you get your "intelligence" about weapons of mass destruction correct, and therefor your whole reason for the war in the first place. Pretty major step ...

Re: The Politics of Politics: The Ride of a Lifetime

I find it hilarious that the only thing that you seem able to throw at Obama is the "inexperience" ball. I wonder where you go to get this Presidential experience? Is there a school? Do you go to Presidential nightschool? The truth is there is NOTHING you can do that will give you Presiden...

Re: Elvis Costello Fan Forum Tribute CD

You can get a USB mic called a Snowball for about $100 US - its what I use and its great, probably not ideal for drums but get it in the right place and it would pick up the room pretty well I think.

Re: Elvis Costello Fan Forum Tribute CD

We really need to finish this - Blue - do you still have my track? I would be interested in doing another one for this aswell - how many more tracks do we need? With the wonderous help of the internets collaborations are pretty easy too if several people want to get together to produce a track. Id d...

Is 'Go Away' going to grab me at some point? Do you love Gidget? Do you love ? and the Mysterians ? Do you love go-go beach parties ? Have a few drinks, and put "Go Away" on very loud, if you dont start doing the Frug then perhaps its just not your thing Otis ! http://farm1.static.flickr....

Re: Momofuku Poll #2 - Whaddya think?

The length of time it takes to record something had nothing at all to do with its worth or quality. You think MAIT or TYM weren't "bashed out" quickly? Some of the greatest songs of all time have been bashed out in a matter of minutes. You can like or dislike a song or album as much as you...

Re: "Momofuku" review

As usual, Costello is a sucker for stories of dark melody and even darker wit, as in the way the Dickensian badlands of Harry Worth — where ”streets are paved with heaven's penance, gutters are full of suicide“ — are given mighty shoves from Nieve's piano-pounding jabs and loads of jagged, fuzzy gu...

Re: Momofuku Poll #2 - Whaddya think?

Repeated listens have made apparent that 1) "Flutter and Wow" is a classic EC ballad, great melody, wonderful singing. 2) No Hiding Place is a cousin of "Home Is Anywhere .." and "I Hope Your Happy Now". 3) "Stella Hurt" is the best song on the record. 4) "...

Re: Momofuku Poll #2 - Whaddya think?

One of his very best records. The songs are all first rate, the playing is superb and the production is unfussy, and straight foward. The best thing about it is stylistically he is just being himself, banging out some new tunes with his band, its not of any genre other than being an Elvis Costello r...

The best VU album, free of Nico's whining , with the killer "What Goes On" and the wonderous "Pale Blue Eyes" .

A new album in the Imperial Bedroom/All This Useless Beauty variety, perhaps?
We should be so lucky. I forsee an opera on the life of Robert Louis Stevenson played by the Finnish National Orchestra and a collaboration with Julie Andrews on songs based around "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof".

Its Barack, not Baraq - perhaps you are getting confused with Iraq ?? Re: Recent CD Purchases

Well, its a kindof strange record , being essentially a reconstruction of something written and recorded 30 or so years ago. Its also difficult for me to be objective about it because I love the Beach Boys and to me the original SMILE would have been the greatest record ever made and had it been fin...
